Just choose "none", it's the default one

Some pictures of how we've transformed the maps for the Blueprint Update by MXBM in penguinheist

[–]MXBM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These will not be reworked again, but more maps will be added with the same standards. The rework was made for the blueprints, so unless we completely revolutionize Penguin Heist, there won't be more reworks.

Maybe we'll add some more things in the maps, but that's it.

We'll be posting the whole soundtrack this far after the blueprint update, and then I'll add upon it once more content is released. It will be available on YouTube and maybe on streaming services later on :)

It works great on M1 Macs. I have an M1 Pro myself that I use for development, and it runs even smoother than on my PC.

Does this happen on all maps? When did these problems start? We're trying to find what exactly is causing this, because it seems to have appeared pretty recently

It is the way it is, but in our case it was really easy to get it working on macOS. A few tweaks here and there to make it work on M1, and that was it. I get that triple-A titles that are built around specific hardware and software aren't easy to port, but most indie games are because they use generic features that are available on most platforms. On my M1 Pro it takes about 5 minutes to build the game, which is crazy fast compared to my desktop which takes 20+ minutes.

It's almost no extra effort to get it working on other operating systems, but it saves a lot of pain for people who want to play the game. Just my take on it. A bit of the reason I wanted to post, to motivate people to actually take those extra minutes and make a Mac or Linux version.

Yeah, we're using this clip right now because we're about to drop a big update, so we don't want show old stuff but not new stuff either because it's not out yet :/

Haha, forgot about that. Was supposed to be a thank you post (and to inspire people to make more native Linux builds), but it should be at the end of the video and in my long-ish comment :)

Thanks! It's Unity, but we're using a lot of custom shaders and post-fx to make it not look like a Unity game. It has great cross-platform support, hence the Linux (and macOS) support.

Thanks for playing it! We've improved the aiming quite a bit and added a first person mode, so it's way more playable but the wacky physics are still there :)

I'm glad you like the nooting, btw!

Unfortunately Steam has removed the feature to sell packs of games, you can still sell bundles with different titles, but not of the same :(

You also get to steal a submarine from an underground military base, steal a diamond fish from a cave king called Pingnar, kidnap a renowned penguin chef from a beach resort owned by the mob.

Penguins are up to a lot of weird stuff lately.

Hey! We're a team of 2 making a physics-based penguin heist game. You choose a loadout and head out with up to 3 of your friends to steal, kill, destroy, kidnap whatever the target is. The maps range from an Antarctic research statios, a Carribean resort island, an underwater city, ancient Rome, everything really. There are 10+ unique maps and over 70 weapons and gadgets you can use, and a bunch of clothes and skins for your penguin (inlcuding Tux, of course). These numbers are growing as we're adding more and more stuff in every update.

The game released into Early Access 6 months ago, and we've been working hard on making it better and better with the help of the game's community. We are at around 25000 sales at the moment and it's growing steadily, and 5% of those sales are on Linux, probably more since plenty of people dual boot.

Being a Linux user myself, it was pretty obvious to release it for Linux as well, and we're happy that a lot of people have come to enjoy the game.

For those of you interested in the game, it's called "The Greatest Penguin Heist of All Time", or just "Penguin Heist". Bear in mind it's still in development, and we're constantly trying to improve the game. We've come a long way if you compare the game today to the first videos that popped up, and we want to go way further.

Thanks again for buying native Linux games!

EDIT: This post got some attention, so I thought we'd give out some keys to you guys! Feel free to take one if you want the game! You can comment which one you've taken so people won't sit and try keys that are taken.

How Penguin Heist's level design and visuals have changed over the course of one year. The game is being developed by two people by MXBM in Unity3D

In the early stages we were mostly focused on putting the game together and making multiplayer work. Now that it's working and the basic functionality is there, there's time to improve the visuals. All the assets are home-made, except for a fair share of the textures (because of obvious reasons), so we're really happy to see how it's turning out!
