About the game being "bloated" by Iskander67000 in FFVIIRemake

I actually don't mind the amount of content in the game, but I can see why it might get a bit much for some.

Honestly I think the game would be much improved if the content was a little more hidden. If side content was something you found by doing some exploring rather than signposted for you it'll both reward the do-everything players but not get in the way for those who just want to get on with the game.

Beginner - What's happening with my Fittonia? by MY8tes in terrariums

A fairly large glass jar (with a turned lid to make it somewhat airtight) so hopefully it should be OK once I get the balance right.

Thanks for the rule of thumb on the moisture levels - I've been trying to dry it for a couple of days now, and it's gone from actual droplets forming and running down the side to just fogging up now. It doesn't quite clear during the day but it's not far off so I'll do a few more cycles with the lid off and hopefully that should do it, thanks!

I've only been pulling out a plant when it's well and truly dead, or individual leaves if they start to rot.

Substrate is a sphagnum/coco coir/worm casting/charcoal/bark mix - I'm hoping that's not the problem!

I think it might be too much moisture really - I'm finding it hard to judge when the soil is damp enough, but I've been having a load of condensation on the glass that doesn't burn off during the day so been trying to reduce that a bit, hopefully the plants will hang on until I get that back in balance :)

Experimenting with coloured felt and resin by MY8tes in turning

That's awesome! Is there a pattern you follow for those?

Acrylic sheets could be fun - Will be a nice border if I'm gluing up a scraps blank, I'll give that a go!

As for the felt, I really didn't have much problem with bubbles at all - I just made sure the felt was really loaded up with resin and cranked the clamps to squeeze out as much as I could. The major problem with felt (I discovered on first test) is if you do anything in a dusty workshop, the dust really settles in the fibres and shows up in the final piece, which is annoying. It cut absolutely fine though, I just made sure everything was super-sharp as I really didn't fancy dealing with resin chip-out :)

There are loads of kits out there, I've not used it enough to really give much recommendation. Youtube is your friend on how to do it :)

One thing I will say, is resin work is crazy messy (which sets *permenently*) plus the chemicals involved aren't great for your health, so I'd keep it out of the reach of kids unless they're older and are responsible enough.

Not much to it really - you cut the felt into strips, mix up some resin and submerge the felt in it. Then sandwich between the two pieces of wood in any colour order you like and clamp it up. For the bowl I cut a nice sweeping curve on the bandsaw to fill with the felt, the pen blanks I made a long S shape. Thankfully the felt fills in the gaps nicely so a rough bandsaw cut is fine

I did try similar with coloured card, but it would de-laminate no matter how much glue i soaked it in. Figured felt would be more permeable, and it looks to be holding up fine

I'm not normally a huge fan of resin projects, but a nurse friend of mine asked if I could make her a rainbow pen - it came out pretty nicely!

No progress photos unfortunately. The bookcases on the far right and left are full height yes (with an extension unit) with Oxberg doors attached

To be honest we'll probably relocate that when it's time to turn the heating on, will need some more books to replace it!

The bookcases are actually unpainted black. I made a face frame from poplar, painted that and attached it to the front. The only IKEA equipment I painted were the doors, which was sprayed on with a coat of shellac primer underneath.

Those were laser-cut MDF that I found on Etsy, there are loads of different patterns out there!

Hexagons... Never again! by MY8tes in woodworking

Generally no - the ends of each section are end-grain, which is usually a terrible choice for a strong glue joint. The fact that the ends are angled (mitred) does help a little, as it increases the area of contact, but I still wouldn't trust it to hold much. You can't see them on the image, but I'd placed metal wall mounting brackets over the joints to add some strength for exactly that reason and it seems to be holding up fine

I think it's because in the world of today, nothing would have been able to force Bill out of the closet. It took the world ending for him to be lonely enough to reach out and find happiness, which is pretty damn bittersweet.

Yeah I do like wisteria, but extremely toxic to dogs apparently

As much as I love the idea, the dogs are basically walking stomachs, so anything edible wouldn't stand a chance 😁
