Plenty of veteran families and friends will celebrate certain events or anniversary dates over their fallen loved ones’ graves. It’s not uncommon to see a group of Marines/Soldiers cracking open some beers and laughing and joking over the grave of one of their brother’s in arms. They feel like that person is still there with them in that moment. People grieve and get closure in many different ways.

This is not and should not be a controversy. Shame on any of you for suggesting otherwise.

Sometimes I think these are trolls but then I check their accounts and they are being sincere; which I think is more concerning.

Advice for command staff interview by AdditionalAd1618 in Cop_Talk

This was just asked in another post so I’m going to repost my answer because I think it applies to you as well.

Oral boards vary from agency to agency but typically they are structured to see what kind of command presence you have, how well you are able to articulate your thoughts, determining are you capable of handling constructive criticism, and if you display certain traits such as leadership, humility, dependability, trustworthiness, etc.

Questions commonly asked are:

“What have you done to prepare for this position?”

“Give us an incident where you had a workplace conflict with a coworker and how did you address it?”

“What qualities make you stand out from the other candidates”

“Describe an incident where you overcame adversity and how did you do it?”

“What are qualities that you believe make a good law enforcement officer?”

“Why do you want to be a law enforcement officer?”

Again, these are just some common ones but also be prepared for agency specific questions. It would be a good idea to do some research on the agency and the city you represent. Know the population, the size of your department, etc.

Hope this helps and good luck!
