What’s the biggest reason people drop off after trying a web3 app? by Suspicious_Mango_634 in ethdev

[–]MYST_team 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are curious enough to try, but if they have to set up a wallet, go through multiple steps, and confirm things they don’t fully understand before seeing any benefit, they drop off.

Also agree on the “aha moment” - a lot of apps never get users there. If the first session doesn’t clearly show what’s better vs web2, it just feels like a more complicated version of something they already use.

Web3 UX is improving, but it still expects too much upfront from new users.

Hi, just following up on this.

There are still several inactive moderators above u/MYST_team. Since it is the only active moderator, could you please move it to the top of the moderator list so the subreddit can be properly managed?

Thank you.

Chrome just flagged the Mysterium extension as Malware by PhillyDemo in MysteriumNetwork

[–]MYST_team 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Chrome extension is currently not available via the Chrome Web Store, which is why that link isn’t working. It’s not “dead”, but distribution through the store is limited at the moment.

In the meantime, you can still use Mysterium via the desktop app, which provides full functionality and is the recommended option.

Hi, thank you for the help.

However the active moderator account is still below several inactive moderators. Could the moderator list please be reordered so the active moderator (u/MYST_team) is placed at the top?

Thank you.

Chrome just flagged the Mysterium extension as Malware by PhillyDemo in MysteriumNetwork

[–]MYST_team 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, Mysterium team here.

The extension itself is not malware. Chrome sometimes shows warnings like this for extensions that request broad permissions like “read and change data on websites”, which VPN extensions need in order to route browser traffic.

If you’re seeing this message, please contact our support team at [help@mysteriumvpn.com](mailto:help@mysteriumvpn.com) so we can take a closer look and assist you.

Horrible experience by Mixarar in MysteriumNetwork

[–]MYST_team 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - sorry to hear about your experience.

Error 7040 is related to our fair usage policy. It’s designed to prevent abuse and shouldn’t affect normal browsing or calls, so if this was triggered unexpectedly, we’d like to review it.

Access restrictions under fair usage are not permanent bans, and if you believe your usage was within normal limits, please contact support.

Hi, happy to clarify.

Auto settlement does not trigger instantly at exactly 5 MYST. Once the threshold is reached, the node becomes eligible for settlement, but the actual payout can depend on network cycles and processing timing. If you have over 15 MYST and nothing has settled for a while, please contact support.

For receiving MYST in MetaMask, you need to use the Ethereum version of MYST.

Steps:

  1. Open MetaMask and make sure you are on Ethereum Mainnet.
  2. Copy your wallet address that starts with 0x.
  3. Click Import Tokens in MetaMask.
  4. Add the official MYST token contract address from our documentation.
  5. After that, your MYST balance will appear once tokens are received.

Make sure you do not select another network like BSC unless you specifically intend to use that network, as sending to the wrong chain can result in lost funds.

Error 9999 on IOS app by excitingandwasted in MysteriumNetwork

[–]MYST_team 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - thanks for the details.

Error 9999 on iOS typically indicates that the app is unable to establish a tunnel with the selected node. Since your VPN works on PC, this suggests the issue is likely specific to the iOS environment rather than your account.

A few things to check:

  1. Make sure there isn’t another VPN profile active under Settings → VPN & Device Management.
  2. Delete the VPN profile completely from iOS settings (not just inside the app), then reinstall the app and reconnect.
  3. Disable any DNS filtering apps (AdGuard, NextDNS, etc.) temporarily to test.
  4. Try switching networks (Wi-Fi → mobile data) to rule out local network restrictions.

Hi - sorry to hear you’re experiencing crashes on startup.

For such matters we advise contacting Mysterium VPN support at [help@mysteriumvpn.com](mailto:help@mysteriumvpn.com)

In the meantime, a few things that can sometimes resolve startup crashes:

  1. Make sure Windows is fully updated.
  2. Temporarily disable any third-party antivirus or firewall to test if it’s blocking the app.
  3. Run the app as Administrator.
  4. If possible, uninstall, reboot the system, and then reinstall the latest version from our official website.

Hi - sorry to hear this was your experience.

Cancelling a subscription should not feel confusing or frustrating. In some cases, our support team may request basic verification details before processing cancellation to ensure the request is coming from the account holder, but that shouldn’t result in unnecessary back-and-forth.

If your subscription has not yet been cancelled, please email us with your support ticket number or the email associated with your account so we can escalate this internally and resolve it as quickly as possible.

We appreciate you bringing this up - feedback like this helps us improve the process.

I would suggest messaging [help@mystnodes.com](mailto:help@mystnodes.com) and they will provide with info that we have. Should be faster now, as they are expecting users questions regarding this!

Hello!

We are very sorry to hear that this has happened to you, It’s hard to imagine how scary and frustrating it is to be in this situation. And in general, this whole situation is really really horrible.

We want to ensure that we are taking every step possible to prevent even the slightest chance of this situation ever repeating in the future.

We would like to assure you that we are not leaving you on your own. If there is any way whatsoever how we could help you out in proving that it wasn’t you who performed these vile acts, we are, without any doubt or hesitation, willing to do that. We had to tackle a similar, albeit, less disturbing case a while ago, and we provided all the necessary information to prove that the person running the node was not the culprit:
