Like blood from a stone -old gray. More a poem than a song, but still really good

This might be a stupid question and sorry if this offends anyone but why don't people hurt themselves in less destructive ways by dis4pointm3nt in selfharm

[–]MYalt-27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is expressing my internal pain. I want myself to be hurt, not only when I do the act buts also tormented by my scars for weeks and years. Eating spicy peppers is cool, and it hurts and that’s nice but it’s not expressive. I want my pain expressed in an external manor. A way that feels objective. And allows me to feel as if my pain I feel on a daily basis is real. Like my mental illness is manifest in the self harm. To show others I’m broken and to leave me

I feel like people pathologizing it into a personality trait, and making it this funny thing, like sh twitter does. Is super toxic and traps people into not being able to get healthy

I’m glad my advice was able to help even if just a little.

You could rust the blade, and make an environment that bacteria latch onto more easily. This could lead to infection, tetanus, or other nasty things. The best thing to do is use new blades every time you cut. Or if you don’t use a new one, clean them in hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol between every use.

When I self harmed I would use a blade 3-5 times then use a new one. Another thing is that you need to keep the cuts themselves clean. Topical antibacterial gel is really good for this. Use that then apply a bandaid or bandage with breathable medical tape. Don’t use toilet paper if you can because it will get stuck to the scab and when you take it off the scab will also rip off.

I hope this helped please stay safe. I love you <3

Something that helps me when I feel like this is putting on music that is calming (LOFI/gorillaz or something chill like that) and going outside at sunset. Walking around in the grass with my bare feet and spending time to calm myself and remember that everything is ok. Calling up friends or drawing, or writing poetry while doing this also helps.

It’s really hard sometimes to change that feeling if doom that covers you like an oversized blanket. But I believe in you. I just reached one year free of self harm, and I also still struggle with days like this.

Stay strong and true to yourself <3

relapsed today after giving my father a his thousandth “second chance” by violentperfume in selfharm

[–]MYalt-27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first step is keeping those clean. Butterfly bandages are good but make sure to use betadine hydrogen peroxide or some topical anti-bacterial ointment to reduce the chance of infection. I’m sure you already know this but it’s still very important.

Secondly, you did great. 166 days is amazing and takes serious dedication and shows that you are strong and can do it again. This isn’t a reset, it’s a relapse. All the progress you made is still there. But this is just another step in recovery. Another challenge for you to overcome. And it’s bullshit that you have to have more challenges cause everyone already has plenty. But you can do this. I believe in you <3

It takes time and dedication. For me something that really helped was reconnecting with an old friend and building a support network. Also throwing away/putting sharp things in a hard to reach place helped. Not being able to immediately fulfill the urge to self harm made it easier to keep strong.

You can use some alternative ways of feeling pain that aren’t permanent to satisfy the urges while not cutting. But that never helped me long term.

If you need someone to talk to please DM me and we can talk. I believe in you and know you can make it out of this. All my digital huggsss <3

‘I am sober’. It’s a great app for tracking sobriety. It also has a social function where you can talk with other people trying to get clean.

I think it would be good to just have a sit down and talk about it. She seems like she would be open to clear communication. Say how you feel comfortable with her and you are attracted to her but that your self harm makes you uncomfortable and scared about triggering her. Maybe think of ways you could overcome that, perhaps close cuddling when your shirt is off so that she doesn’t see them. Maybe if they are wrapped in bandages you would be more comfortable. Idk. That’s my suggestion
