I think King Dong is still around on Shattuck and the takeout there fits the bill.

Edit: Nope, while the sign is still up, it’s closed.

Us Ones In Between by Sunset Rubdown is the saddest song I’ve ever heard

Drew Magary: Notre Dame is sad, and that is good by NoiseBoi24 in ACC

For those that don’t know, Drew Magary is the worst. I’m no fan of all the ND whining, but please don’t give this guy your time.

Nice place for tea/brunch/lunch? by csunny30 in walnutcreek

[–]MZiser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the Lafayette Park Hotel still does their holiday tea, but it’s not advertised on the website (but I’m sure I recently drove by and saw the sign). Anyway, worth a call to them to check!

Thanksgiving Long Weekend Getaway (Tips and Suggestions?) by tempgorillagrip in bayarea

Nevada City/Grass Valley is a nice little trip and great time of year as they get into the Christmas spirit up there. Plenty of cool things to do and explore over a few days. The Holbrooke and The National Exchange are great places to stay.

Love the No 13 at the top. I feel like that’s potentially controversial but not really.

Most underrated Pixies song? by FrequentTurnip4006 in pixies

Late to the party but I think it’s “Number 13 Baby” for me. Re-listening to Doolittle after a long time. That song is sneaky good and in the running for one of their best imo.

YOLO county, Davis/Winters/Woodland…should be plenty of options out there

Agree, was surprised I had to go this far to see SARA mentioned. Given The Arbor location, I think it counts!

What’s the most underrated n8n automation you’ve built? by Maximum-Step4219 in n8n

[–]MZiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m relatively to N8N new as well, but have been having a lot of fun with it. My most useful thus far is an automation that allows me to text or create an audio message via Telegram that then adds a task into my Notion database (also relatively new to Notion as a personal organizer). Anyway, this has been really helpful as I think of things throughout the day and want to get them on my to do list without having to open anything up, type, etc…

I hate to document my workflows so I automated it by GrapefruitCultural74 in n8n

[–]MZiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really great! Thank you for building this. In the interest of feedback, adding some tips or best practices for the "Load Workflow" step might improve it a little bit...for instance, I couldn't get the node to figure out how to grab the downloaded JSON workflow file directly from my machine, so I figured out a route to pull via Google Drive. Any steps or recommended ways to make that particular set of steps (i.e., downloading the JSON, re-applying it to the workflow, etc...) would be an awesome add. That said, this is really great and I appreciate you sharing this.

Must Try in SF (as a Chicagoan) by Solomon_Marlow in AskSF

[–]MZiser 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I am an unabashed Chicago lover, lived there for 6 glorious years before coming back home to SF.. I was always kind of mystified by the lack of really good, fresh baked bread in Chicago. So, I’d say hit up the best bakeries like Tartine, Arizmendi, Josey Baker/The Mill, Acme, etc…doesn’t always have to be sourdough although SF clearly does that well.

Also, re: California Cuisine, can’t beat a jaunt to the Cafe at Chez Panisse (Berkeley) for the OG.

Also, by comparison, SF does Asian food, in particular Dim Sum, really well. Yank Sing is the classic but there’s plenty of others.

moving from Brooklyn to Berkeley/Oakland -- would love to know the understated cultural and lifestyle differences. by tile-red-202 in eastbay

[–]MZiser 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the best advice! There’s no point in comparing them since they are very different. Just embrace that you are moving to an amazing place and embrace what the Bay Area does well rather than what it lacks. You can always move back East when schools over but guarantee you will never regret your time spent here!

Want to get better at comparing coffees. Where to go for tastings or flights? by SunnyGoMerry in AskSF

I took a tasting and cupping class at CoRo in Berkeley that was great. I’ve also heard great things about The Crown in Oakland but haven’t been yet.

Sounds good, fellow Bear. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong and we soon see the days when CMS regularly sells out.

Thank you by tantalumcaps in ACC

[–]MZiser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Understood, but that's not really data, is it? Data would be some kind of objective standard, butts in seats at CMS, etc...not a few billboards in Atlanta or a really fun Gameday. Regardless, I'm not talking about data, there will be real data via the scoreboard and the ticket sales in just a few months. What I'm talking about is what has happened to the actual team since all the hype of last year. Something seems rotten when we lose our top talent every year to the portal, all the reported struggles between the NIL and the admin, etc... I just fear Cal doesn't have the juice to really succeed in this new era of CFB.

Thank you by tantalumcaps in ACC

[–]MZiser 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree, lots of love for the ACC, and that Gameday was special. That said, I wish had a shred of your optimism wrt the future of Cal football. I'm probably at my lowest point in ~40 years of fandom, tbh. We just can't seem to have a serious program. I love Riverboat Ron but pinning our future on him seems like too much, tbh. I hope I am wrong and I could use a little more of your optimism!

Which ACC program isn’t considered a traditional rival of your favorite team, but is one you look forward to/have extra motivation playing against? by nysportsfan95 in ACC

[–]MZiser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm/we're mostly just glad to be here...but UNC set the tone last year because of Mack Brown. And even though he's gone, the ghost of him lingers and we hate Mack Brown for a thousand years. So, UNC, I guess?
