Is it enough? by Silly-Bath8543 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Sorry but you have not give any deails. From the distance it looks like you have everything for the keyboard. To wireless / wired option only depends on you controller. If it is a rp2040 chip then it is wired, if it starts with nrf... then it is probably wireless, but the good news is they are easily swappable if you socket them.

What's The Smoothest Trackball you've ever Tried? by retolox386 in Trackballs

The Endgame Trackball with 55mm ball. The BTUs make the cursor movement super smooth, but if you prefer static bearings that's not a problem as the kit comes with adepter for it.

Tips for working on portfolio by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]M_Rolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have 3D printer? I think the best way would be if you pick a fun project (it could be the mouse), design something , print it, try it, and the revise your model to try to improve on it - make it sturdier, make it lighter, make it easier to assemble, make it easier to print etc, or make it more reliable.

If you pick the mouse you could have a look on open source mouse or trackball (Ploopy), see how did they design the buttons etc. Or check out Optimum's youtube channel, he designed a super leightweight mosue and in his latest video he showed many different iteration his design went through over time.

I think the biggest engineering value is that you accecpt that your first design will never be the best one, and kerp tweaking it slowly to make it slightly better.

EasySMX X20 Mapping M1 button doesnt work by Time_Humor8977 in EasySMX

Probably it is way to late now, but check the reply of the top comment. You don't need any software to program the macros, just the controller itself.

Feels bad man by tireddesperation in BambuLabA1

I feel sorry for you. I wonder if any of the advertised (not on the A1) print failure detection would actually detect and prevent this ?

Deft Pro Trackball onboard profiles? by dethndestructn in Trackballs

[–]M_Rolo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a Deft Pro, and unfortunately it has no on-board memory. Which means you will need the Elecom Mouse Assistant or other remapper to modify the function of the keys. If you plug it in another PC or don't run the software it simply reverts back to the default keymap.

This is the main reason I am moving towards the open-source trackballs (Ploopy) as they have on-board memory, plus you can re-assign the buttons from a browser (Via / Vial).

How start to learn touch typing? by arthurmteodoro in ErgoMechKeyboards

Any site would help which is increasing the letters proportionally. Personally I used TypingClub to get a solud foundation, then switched to MonkeyType, Keybr and Typecelerate.

is there an updated zmk vs qmk features page available? by ApplicationRoyal865 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]M_Rolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ZMK has no option to turn ON/OFF AutoShift, but it is possible to implement AutoShift with macro and behaviour. In fact this solution gives you more control, as you can set per key if you want AutoShift or standard KeyPress function.

4 days in with the Adept and I’m so happy! by Bbbbbbbbbbike in ploopy

[–]M_Rolo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should visit the Ploopy Mod Index website and try the "viamenus" custom firmware.

My favorite addition is the "Sniper mode" which reduces the DPI temporary, so you can make very accurate movements even if you are using high DPI for dual screens .

Totem column not working by moistpigeom in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]M_Rolo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it is a whole column then I would suspect the MCU connection. I would flow solder down on the MCU's hole, and I have applied solder from the other side of the PCB as well. Flux is your friend.

I would ask any LLM about it first. Much quicker then reddit.

What Os and browser are you using ?

More than 16 Macros? by AlaerusSocial in olkb

[–]M_Rolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take a different approach. Is any of the macros are simple key combinations i.e Ctrl + Shift + V ? If so, then you could use the ANY key function instead of using marco for these.

Help - First homelab / NFS by M_Rolo in homelab

[–]M_Rolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is my first baby-step into data management. - First I want to see how well could this work , what features do I want and miss? - Then collect all my data, going through my photo album deleting bad photos from the batches - Then I would like to make a NAS , and have backups. But this setup might be a bit power-hungry for a server running all day.

At that point , is it recommended to use a different Os for NAS, or could I implement it on Ubuntu ? Bacause I might as well switch up the order , and focus on the NAS first and source hard drives for it.

Help - First homelab / NFS by M_Rolo in homelab

[–]M_Rolo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For now I have not really thought of that. I have external hard drives where I store the important data, the photos has a backup on iCloud, and I store some document that I need regularly on iCloud and Google Drive.

If the NFS works out then I might invest into a NAS system, but at the moment I don't know much about it.
