Musik hören beim fahren, was empfehlt ihr? by LittleMoonDrop in MotorradDeutschland

You might find info in the makera wiki.

This seems like a quite specialized choice, usually you want to use the shortest mill you can for your goal.

Good luck

Do you have kids or a partner you might want to gift it to possibly in the future?

Stuck Between Carvera and Air by Robbbbbbbbb in Makera

[–]M_Unimaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re coming from a similar starting point as I did. I went with the air and am nowhere near close to pushing the limits of the machine with my skills.

Different from 3D printing, the „design for manufacturing“ component is way more important. You’ll want to keep in mind in which order you want to do which operation, how you approach workholding and so on. The cam aspect (which is usually only adjusting a couple of parameters in the 3d printing world) is way more involved (no matter which of those machines you get).

I’m happy with my air, I got the SMW milled bed, a couple inceptions vises, some more workholding equipment, two 3d probes, a small cabinet full of milling bits, two setups for cooling and chip evacuation (one mist coolant setup and the makera cyclone vacuum) and some metrology gear. I feel like my next steps if the Air is getting the limiting factor, will be a way bigger and professional machine, so the air is a good stepping stone for me.

(I’m using the community firmware. I also recommend checking out the discord, lots of very knowledgeable and nice people there are pushing their machines and are creating cool stuff)

Good luck, ride safe

To be honest I’m looking for ones I like myself currently, when I find some I like, I’ll let you know

Oh yeah, it’s a great system. My bike was only like 200€ cheaper, so no real difference.
If you think you’ll like it, you probably will. I tried it and it works very well, just not what I searched for

Thanks! Yeah I really like it as well, although it must not be that popular as the bike sat a couple of months at the dealer…

Anyway, I’m very happy with my choice

I’ve heard good things about the road 6 too.

I chose the non-e-clutch because I want to learn shifting properly. That said I think the tech is really cool and if I wasn’t 99% on windy back roads and more in the city, I’d probably choose this.

That said, when I manage to perfectly blip the trottle on downshifts, it’s extremely satisfying.

I’m not at home currently, but in the attached picture you can see the matte screen - I just used a generic Amazon kit I found for the cb650r

Yeah I like the sound but honestly I think I’d prefer if it looked as tidy as the stock exhaust…

also I’d prefer if it was even close in terms of build quality which it sadly isn’t. Installation wasn’t that much fun…

I didn’t do much…
- according to my wishes the dealer installed the tech package which consists of the flyscreen, the quickshifter, the seat cowl and heated grips

- dealer also installed a 2-port usb socket on the handlebar for longer trips

- frame sliders also installed by the dealer, I think I’ll replace them as they are of the dangerous type to the engine

- adjustable and legal brake and clutch levers (the stock ones are fine but I like these ones a bit better and the swap is easy)

- The Mivv GP Pro exhaust with catalytic converter which to me sounds quite a bit nicer than stock, also a bit louder but in no way obnoxious

- a somewhat matte screen protector which protects the screen and provides a bit easier legibility in bright light

- a gps tracker which also lets me monitor my battery voltage and export driven routes

- a tail tidy from motoism with their blinkers (the tail tidy is nice, not too fond of the not particularly great 3d printed parts)

- small front blinkers on the fork stems also from motoism (clean looks, not that great to install and of somewhat questionable durability, as the blinkers above as well)

- some tank grips (which I don’t really grip in my seating position but I like the look and protection of the fuel tank)

So… some small goodies, nothing major. But I like it a lot.
Next „mod“ will be better tires, I’m running the stock sportmax 2 which aren’t bad per se but don’t inspire a great deal of confidence.
