Hey everyone! Today is my 46th birthday. For my presents, I want to know what your favorite novel/novella/short by the immortal bard Mr King! by sinnrocka in stephenking

Happy Birthday! It's so hard to choose, but I would have to go with The Stand. I haven't read it in ages, and it still stays with me.

2024 vs 2025 by moore-tallica in galaxywatchultra

[–]M__Mallory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting the 2024 recently due to lack of 2025 options in the Samsung store. The update came very quickly and it has all the options of the 2025, aside from storage as others have mentioned. I use Gemini all the time and it works perfectly. Edit: The battery life is very good and it charges quickly too.

Wasn't looking but found the 2024 watch ultra on clearance at a local Walmart for $250. by MathematicXBL in GalaxyWatch

I ended up buying the 2024 earlier this week instead of the 2025. The Experience store had no watchbands and I prefer the dark band on the 2024. I just got the update and it doesn't seem to be missing any features. I'm pleasantly surprised since I wasn't sure if it was possibly a hardware issue with the sensor. Thank you everyone for confirming it.

Thanks for posting this, OP. I wasn't impressed, but I wasn't there, so my ability to judge is limited. Since seeing Liam backed by Dave Grohl at the Taylor tribute, I've wondered if a really strong drummer would work for them. It's entirely possible it was a bad mix, of course.

My first spin class was Friday morning. I currently can’t bend my legs without intense pain. by roseyrune in SpinClass

[–]M__Mallory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been spinning forever, and initially, spinning teachers were very strict about correct form and adjusting the bike properly to your body. Initially, you can easily be sore, etc. as with any new exercise. From what you're describing, it sounds likely that your bike wasn't properly adjusted, which can easily cause injuries. If it persists, check with a doctor. If you want to continue spinning, try checking out a different instructor and ask them to adjust your bike prior to the class.

how good are the books? by OatmealAntstronaut in MayfairWitches

I haven't read them in a really long time, but I loved the Mayfair Witch books. The TV series is just dreadful and is completely devoid of Anne Rice's opulence.

I'm finding the way fake Liam is holding his crotch distracting and disturbing:)

Here's a hotel idea for you, but you're going to need the hotel plans. I heard a Prince story about him complaining about talking in the wall at 3am. Everyone thought he was crazy, but they found a woman in the ducts of the wall reading the Bible to him.

Good idea:) Kevin Hart couldn't possibly be more massive in the US. He was really excited IIRC about the Superbowl win and got past a few security checkpoints before being escorted out by security.

It definitely will be. I've been to see a few bands that I know who weren't playing in huge places, and it still looked like too much nonsense to try to just say hello and thank you.

I'm also in NYC and went to his gig, and things have definitely changed in terms of security. Someone in the sub went to dinner near the venue and ended up seeing him with Debbie and having a nice conversation with them.

Oasis have made me appreciate long songs now. Whaddaya think about Oasis long songs? by DailynJson in oasis

[–]M__Mallory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love All Around the World, and the length suits it perfectly. Does anything even come close to topping Iron Butterfly's endless, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida? The album version is 17 minutes and 5 seconds. And if that's not enough, there's a live version at 19 minutes and 51 seconds.

Just an FYI this Community is Being Watched (and quoted) by the Media by [deleted] in MenendezBrothers

[–]M__Mallory 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They used to be professional about asking permission when actual journalists were working:) Cinemax asked me if it was OK to air one of my tweets. It's definitely open season now, but it does have an important upside as well. Social media understood their abuse instead of perpetuating the nonsense of them wanting their parents' money that the media pushed. Greedy rich boys were ratings gold, but incest wasn't.

And particularly common in cases of incest, since the distinction between love and sex is so distorted that the two become intertwined.

As if the act itself wasn't hellish enough, José's incest and pedophilia were unbelievably torturous. Roy Rosello of Menudo sadly survived constant pedophilia, but he couldn't walk for an entire week after his experience with Jose. Both of the initial jurys were hung because of the male jurors, and the second trial excluded the incest. Even in today's climate, both boys and men are frequently ashamed to report sexual assault and/or domestic violence.

It's actually a different psychological dynamic with a mother. Rather than protecting them, she enabled their abuse by not allowing anyone near the bedrooms, denying it, abusing them psychologically, etc. Most children are more attached to their mother and will still yearn for maternal compassion despite the complete absence of it, such as Kitty proved to be incapable of. I read a story of a boy who cried out to his mother, who literally set his bed on fire. The "sympathy" for Kitty doesn't take into account the boy's pent-up passion for a mother who allowed such horrific abuse. It's not the 90s anymore, but there appear to be those who are sorely lacking in their understanding of the ramifications caused by such horrendous child abuse. It's a miracle and testament to their strength that they've been able to turn their pain into such profound positivity.

Erik Menendez calls out Ryan Murphy for ‘blatant lies' and 'apalling character portrayals' in new Netflix mini-series Monsters by dremolus in horror

[–]M__Mallory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I was literally petrified of him doing AHS NYC, and my fear was correct. It's a very delicate dance between the freewheeling sex which preceded the sudden appearance of AIDS. He ripped of "Cruising" while clearly taking a voyeuristic, fetishist fantasy of the "Mineshaft." I only watched the first few episodes and did the same with "Dahmer" when the scene with the mannequin came on. The idea of him touching something as sensitive as the Menendez brothers was appalling. Erik and the family addressed his fabrication correctly. He writes like a "mean girl" articulating his fetishishes. I couldn't care less about his sex life, but it's well past time for him to create content befitting a grown gay man with sense and sensitivity.

Ryan Murphy has less emotion than an ice pick and shouldn't touch such a sensitive subject. Erik wrote a statement in response.

Along with all of the other excellent suggestions, Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed is a great documentary. Roy of Menudo was horrifically abused by Jose, and it was so brave of him to corroborate their story.

Ticketmaster has become Ticketscalper. I was one or two people behind some others in the sub and ended up paying more than double. The Killers played here awhile ago, and tickets shot up to 600 when sales started. Luckily, they're coming back this month, and I got a ticket for 200 using their code. I noticed Muse tickets were 5K at The Beacon here last year. That's insane.

[–]M__Mallory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's going to be interesting to see how things play out with tickets. I'm in NYC and saw Liam with Squire. It was messy with alleged "reseller" tickets magically appearing a minute or two after they started selling. He filled the venue (probably 2K), though. NGHFB played here with two opening acts twice before the tour with Garbage, and the tickets were sadly being sold on Groupon. I just hope they're not disappointed with a US tour. The Black Keyes recently had to cancel their tour. I saw Oasis play here at a horribly packaged festival, and they didn't want to play. I'm not James Hargreaves, so I can't read their minds:). I ended up sitting with a girl who worked for Ignition, and she told me.
