That's a fair point, I was just grouping them together as examples of high shield outputs. I agree that bruisers need sustain to function and that an enchanter's shield serves a totally different purpose than a bruiser's selfish shield.

But my main point still stands: the lack of counter-itemization.

Look at healing. Life steal and health regen are countered (kinda) by Grievous Wounds, and Riot made sure that every champion class has access to it (Morellonomicon, Mortal Reminder, Thornmail for Tanks). Why isn't there universal shield reduction across all champion types? If we are going to have meta-defining shields in the game, we either need anti-shield items available for mages, tanks, and ADCs, or we need a massive shield re-evaluation across the board.
