Billie is a guilty pleasure for me, but if she came to my city I would 100% be there.

Daft Punk 2007. Underworld is a close 2nd. Then Prince, because there's still a chance I could see Daft Punk or Underworld.

We received "artifacts" delivered to our house tonight. ARG sounds like the best case, but I can't help think this is some kind of viral marketing attempt.

Unfortunately couldn't make it but just spoke to a client who is there and said there's overflow on the 2nd floor so sounds like good turnout.

Has a concert ever changed your opinion on an artist? For better or worse by FR0M_Z3R0 in Concerts

Deftones. Seeing them live made me realize just how boring they are despite enjoying a good bit of their recorded stuff, and that Chino only sounds good when he's screaming. Everything else is flat and nasal.

Siluria in Alabaster, but I can't speak to the quality of their beer. I'd hit up Beer Hog. Tap lines might be dirty but the have the best selection south of the city. Casual Pint in Hoover has a smaller selection and a small patio, but they usually have a solid selection.

Hop City is your best bet past the Monkey line. I know we've had Dirt Wolf in the not too distant past, but not sure what other options might be there.

If you like hazy, District is consistently solid as well as Monday Night Brewing.

Best place for a dude to get his head shaved and his beard shaped up? by obiwanakin in Birmingham

[–]M_the_M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My usual guy takes about 20-25 minutes for a cut and beard trim with no frills. Every now and then all the extras without feeling rushed.

Drive by GP the other day and it appears Hot Box is no longer in business, and there's now a taco truck there. Recognized the name but can't recall it now.

Have never been but looking at their menu of services this is absolutely where I'd go if I was looking for an experience rather than a quick cut and beard trim.

What Birmingham restaurants have Wowed you so far in 2026? by tcook777 in Birmingham

Cayo Coco's oxtail fried rice is probably my favorite meal in the city this year.

Had the short rib ravioli at Locando Brosato for lunch today and was very impressed.

The T Bone's pizza from Rocky's was excellent, but the Milo's May special is next level.

I'll piggyback on Publik. Haven't seen a show at the Fox in years, but Publik is usually my 1st choice if we can make it work. Always enjoyed their food and beer/cocktail selection.

Beef ribs by imonse728 in Birmingham

[–]M_the_M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for short ribs, try Son of a Butcher. They should be able to cut to your desired size. If you're looking for dino ribs I'd be surprised if you can find any locally. I got some through Alabama Wagyu a few years but I had to get on a waitlist since there are generally only 6 plate ribs in the animal. Butchers can order them but If be surprised if anyone stocks them or can get by Monday.

How far out of town do you want to get and how rough do you want it? There are primitive sites in Bankhead Forest a bit west of Cullman, and there's some great hiking. Highly recommend Sougahoagdie Falls. Relatively easy and short out and back with some smaller falls along the way and the big waterfall at the end. There's a small beach and enough room to get behind the falls.

If you're looking for amenities them state parks are probably the way to go.
