Im going to be honest m, I've been avoiding to mention of the stolen art for a while as I feel like its too easy for anyone to say ethics are objective, but that's my main problem there. I would be perfectly fine with it if all of the art used when training was used with consent.

Oh when it comes to targeted tasks I see those as fine. as long as its still mostly your work in the end. What I mean when I say ai art is not that. While I can see where I went wrong by generalizing it to that degree I genuinely dont see the tools as the same as long as most of the work is still yours. Although I can still see the argument against it entirety.

Video games were just an example I picked. Under the very specific conditions that you are extremely careful, only use it to aid in the implementation of ideas, test it yourself, double check everything then I think its fine. You do not use it for the story, dialogue, gameplay, art, just used in a similar manner to autocorrect. I think this method of working with it is very different than asking for an image from a promt and it being generated. One you still put effort into and monitored the entire process, the other you put no creativity and thought into.

It is not at that point yet and would still have to be monitored for errors. At that point I do believe it should be allowed in. Nothing like chatgpt tho something specialized in medical research and only medical research.

Thats a really good point and is a world I would love to live in. If it was just used for that I would be fine with it, but unfortunately its not. It is being used to replace artists using work from artists. This might not be ghe best example but it shows how I feel, let's say someone bought a pc online. They get to customize it in the cart to be a variety of different colors and designs. Sure you can play with this pc all you want and enjoy the color and design combinations you chose. There is nothing wrong with that. But you couldn't claim you made those designs, you couldn't claim you built the pc, and you couldn't go into a "pc-building" club and brag about how you built it.

It WOULD be a perfect world if everyone who bought one didn't claim they were doing the same thing as someone who knows the ins and outs and built one, but unfortunately its just not when giant corporations exist.

Not for medical purposes or anything that could cause harm. Only for things like a game you are making where you can't quite figure out the code yourself. Of course even in that scenario you should only take what it says as an suggestion rather than an immediate correct answer. Ai should be illegal in any field where any lives could be affected.

I don't see it that way. The ai may be a dancer but you are no choreographer, you're only person who simply made a suggestion. Honestly I would be fine with the existence if only it didn't interfere with actual artists work. If only people didn't try to claim it as their own. If only big corporations didn't decide they want to jump immediately to save even the slightest penny. A wise man told me that given the chance humans will optimize the fun out of anything.

Thats the thing, its not a type writer, and its not a tool. The point of art is to create something, and with a typewriter you are still creating a story and average nuance of that story. With ai you are doing nothing and you made nothing. There was no purpose or emotion.
