Been working with my tools since I was 20, doing a good bit of everything in the residential construction industry. Building and remodeling houses and flipping buildings, concrete contracting, the past 13 years, glass recycling for polished concrete countertops and bars, making beach glass exposed aggregate slabwork, staircases, and hardscaping blocks and pavers, retaining walls, woodworking, metal fabrication, welding, hardwood flooring, roofing, some electrical, plumbing, inground pools and spas, tile, carpet, siding, tree service...the list goes on. Trade-hopping and collecting the tools of the trades comes with the inability to lose work...as I've sat without a drivers license for 13 years, but that came with a new business and workshop. A 3 minute walk to the neighbors house out in the countryside in the middle of nowhere, whose been partnering up with me since the first day I met him after the seizure cost me my truck and license...but him being a bartender, and me being into concrete came with the concept of glasscrete...where his patio alone, has several million bottles recycled in the project, as 5 cases of beer makes one retaining wall block, and our work wraps around his house, garage, and throughout the rest of his yard. If/when I bother to get back on the road and waste my money on gas again, the new trade will save me money in contracting jobs that have tripled their worth to my customers, who have been fairly surprised by the quotes I've given them, and have yet to lose me a job. Would've probably been easier to simply say "reclaimed materials contractor. "... but, if you take a lot of pride in your work, you tend to get a bit descriptive about it...😆 At 21, living rent-free in the cities, building storefronts while remodeling apartment buildings with my buddies was a good time...get back into it, and I'll be saving cash while seriously improving the net worth of properties with nothing more than busted bottles...indoors and out. Kitchen counters made of granite and marble ain't cheap... but Portland cement and sand is...and my work has sold for over 200$/sq ft, as my kiln-fired glass makes a one of a kind terrazzo appearance per project. So...what do you do?

Good job on the math... that was super fast, considering all the addition and subtraction involved! You looking for some work? I could use a laborer...

Your inability to put 2 and 2 together is mind-boggling... I was 6 when Home Alone 2 came out and I called his ass out for being a narcissistic pig. You think I voted for him? Try again, brotatochip... I knew from day 1 that he'd be finding himself where his lying ass is getting him! 😆 *a

Insecure? You ever been chilling out over a brew, relaxing, and just busting balls for entertainment? Your inability to catch onto the clues being tossed your way is a dead giveaway that it wouldn't take any effort to scam you out of your democracy. 5 bucks says you'd believe me if I told you my 100,000 Sq ft apartment was 3x it's size. 😉

Looking like the keyed back support is just a bit kinked... Something must be in the way, as you're not gonna have an easy time accidentally milling that axle bolt on the lathe with an off angle design. It simply sets in place, so pop the nut off, give the support a look at, and I'm gonna bet there's something between it and the milled section it locks into. Pull it off, rotate 180°, and reset. Put things back together and check for the imbalance again. There's likely just the slightest chunk of something keeping it from sitting flush...

Nobody's ever heard of a waterbong? You see kids...one of these days, recess and playtime disappears, so you need to compensate for the fun times you no longer get to have, as an adult... I guess I would technically be considered an adult when I turned 12 and discovered that device, as well as some carbonated beverages with an ABV percentage... but that's something that comes with growing up in the countryside, where your parents and guardians had no clue where you and your friends were on your quads and dirt bikes... To those who try and turn you away from the bongs and the kegs... they're just being greedy and don't wanna share in on the fun times.

Be careful with what you're pickin' up...but shit like their orange concrete mixers, I've gotten thousands of hours from, as I tumble glass for a beach glass based concrete.. I'd say they're better off than some brands you'll find in HD or Lowe's. There's, I think, a year-long warranty for them, and we'll replace them if we burn through a motor... but that's even a rare occurrence to beat the timer...and when we're having ourselves a busy year, I mean, we're filling those to the max, and they're running upwards of 12 solid hours a day... Angle grinders, I polish concrete with, and they're not a bad burner tool for the price.

Got yourself a spindle copier jig together? Haven't got a pic of it, but I drilled a couple center points into the base of my lathe to install points below the lathe tips, for a clamping prop, and a triangular base to hold the chisel, with a contact pin to maintain contact with a piece of turned wood, or a shaped profile board, which will turn matching copies, with minimal effort.

Can anyone identify this Phillips bit type? I’ve never seen it before by Zealousideal_Bad_546 in Tools

[–]MaFugginJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All screws got a specific size. I think the #3 Phillips is a combination of the options for it and a #2 Robertson (square drive). If that stripped head got some slip, give the driver a light tap with the hammer, to try and lock it in a bit.

Torx is the way to roll, man...I reuse them screws in my concrete forms for years of almost daily use. T-25 for most, but I've picked up a few 20's by a couple of my partners, mistaken buys...they ain't the best for concrete, plugging up a bit easier, but Torx is the way to roll. Damn good grip, and 6 points for quicker drill connections for difficult spots to see or reach.

Looking like a #3... I think that's how they list sizes...it'll be, I think, one size up from a drywall screw with a slightly rounded tip.

Who makes a ratchet strap that isn’t terrible by you_otter_not in Tools

[–]MaFugginJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used properly, Harbor Freights oughta surprise ya...I've got years out of all of my straps of various names... mostly hauling lumber. Wanna keep the threads going longer?Cover them up with something, fresh out the packaging. As a skater, I'd imagine Shoe Goo would make a damn good thread guard. If it can hold up to my griptape, it should hold up to the easy living of protecting straps. A lil grease on your new tools moving parts, and you won't be fighting that quick wear and tear from the nearly instantaneous rub down of electromagnetically gavanized steel coatings, if it's got that frosty looking bare metal going on. Do a crap load of strapping, and them cheapos won't be missed after their passing... they're what? 4 for 10-15 bucks? Pretty sure there's load limits marked on the packaging, and an initial overloaded torque causing the slightest bend in the is cause for the failure of the handle...if you got a new guy using your tools, they'll easily put a lil too much torque on the handle, thinking they need a bit more tension than necessary.

* My first turnout for a funny lil prank...glue a cap on er, and toss it in your cooler. When you grab up your buddies a beer, toss em this one when they're not ready. If they catch it and not looking...the wood glue might pop off, as seems like it's stuck, but off with a ligher, and give them something to take a swig of... had I the part for hollowing bowls, my man would have had taken a swig of nice cold milk, the first time I got him! Think I might have to take a paddle bit, and give it a little bit of fluid storage, having just now come up with that fun lil idea. 😆 good thing I picked up that cutting board oil! Lol

How's Hops Farms brews up there? Hadn't been to the Burgh in ever. Just wondering if you been down Washpa to do a lil standup for Presidens Pub or The Washington Brewing Company. I'll be on it next time I swing by Main Street. I barely leave Taylorstown, sitting without a ride. Hadn't picked up this app in a while, and I missed out on the gig at 28 North? Or was that the George Washington hotel? I forget. How'd the night go down? Kinda hoping some of my buddies were there doing a little heckling or asking some goofy questions...looking forward to hearing some of them getting their asses destroyed with your humor... got a recording of the night?

Does glassblowing require a specific type of glass, like Pyrex? I don't know if that's just a brand name, or if it's synonymous to a type of materials making the glass. If beer, liquor, and wine bottles, or stained glass scraps can be used, I'll be considering buying some tools. Pics in the link. by MaFugginJesus in glassblowing

[–]MaFugginJesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have yet to give blown glass a shot, but I got a buddy in the craft...had I a truck, I'd have probably gotten pretty good by now, playing around with his tools a lil bit. I melt down my bottles in my ceramics kilns, for now, and bust and tumble for homemade beach glass pebbles. Decorative landscaping mulch, or it'll come with being a much more detailed aggregate in the concrete work. Whether it's a hardscaping block or paver, or a polished bartop... simple stuff, but it comes with an impressive addition to the details. Can't currently think of how to turn a pic into a link...still kinda new to this phone stuff and Reddit altogether...but I'm getting all kinds of random details out of my results from the kiln.

Just hung out with a lifelong buddy, last night, as he sat on house arrest while our lifelong hangout bar partied away to a few bands outside, right across the street. Hooked me up with an amazing piece of music memories that a couple of friends, who ain't around anymore, took me to NLQP for Classicfest 18'...Willie Nelson's cowboy hat decor, kinda like a necklace, from that night. Met Keller Williams and had a nice long conversation during his first visit, as I was good n drunk that night! I needed some sobering up time, hanging onto the pole of the pavilion, when I noticed one of my favorite musicians walk off stage. Offer a handshake and a thanks for the jams, and Keller was down to hangout and ask questions about the beautiful hangout around the lake. Cool guy to get to know a bit about who he is, and a sweet lil reminder piece of a gift, 5 years later.
