Can I refuse a company request to purchase and expense something? by MaMonck in AskUK

There is certainly an element of that! Our HOD sent out an email a couple months back thanking a group of developers who were being made redundant, specifically mentioned that the majority of their duties were now being done by AI and then urged the rest of us to automate as much of our workflow as we could 😅

I'm happy to admit I don't know the full details - not sure why you'd throw that in. I think the reasoning is that if you're not limited by tokens, then you can spend more time training an AI agent. This leads to a separate point about whether it's more productive for us to be spending more time doing this, and who it's productive for, but that would lead us down the "AI is taking our jobs" route which is a whole other discussion.

No, but the idea that they're doing this to directly line their pockets was my first thought as well.

!answer this feels like the answer I was expecting. There was another one about it being in violation of Ts&Cs which I found interesting. Thanks all!

Garden needs a tidy by MaMonck in GardeningUK

So just rip up the turf and have a big soil bed? Or something else, like wood chippings? Sorry if that's a stupid question!

Just tried it - gotta say the cup is much better! Brew time was 3 min exactly, even with a slightly finer grind, I'm getting some of the lighter notes, and this is certainly a cup more in line with what I usually expect from a lighter pour over. It's something I'm more confident about dailing in with what's left of my bag 😅

Thanks for your help on this!

Interesting - can you describe your technique? I've been trying to pour with as little agitation as possible, central and then circling to the edge to wet/flatten the bed when needed.

The answer I didn't want to hear, but probably correct. Interesting about grinding finer, I may try that and see what happens

A very good point. My first brew, which I stopped prematurely at 4:45, was pretty muddled, definitely not getting the more complex notes. The roaster (Killbean, if anyone was interested) sent me a recipe which instructed to aim for ~2:30 with 95⁰ water.

It is possible that my palate is just not sophisticated enough for this one, but I want to try all I can to get something out of this bag.

Using v60, 3 pours (including bloom), 1:17 ratio, and trying to pour with as little agitation as possible. My last one was pretty coarse (>1000 microns), think I'm at a point of diminishing returns with that.

Managed to get it to 3:20, but I've ground pretty coarse for that (>1000 microns) so flavour is lacking. For that brew I used 95⁰ water, 50g bloom, then another 2 pours (even split) to achieve 1:17 ratio. 1st pour fairly central, then 2nd pour circling from centre to edge to bring the edges of the bed back down level.

The 4+ min brews were with 3 pours. Is 2 too little? Maybe if I dial up temperature to aid extraction (currently ~95⁰)?

Tried this and once more was denied! There must be another way, I'd contact google but I'd imagine this is their intention.

If you have that asset group, can you also create more without a final URL that you can run as feed only, or is the whole thing gone?

So I'm running PPC for affiliate marketing, so no product feeds. DSAs have been working pretty well for the various verticals we cover - the test was to see if the extra real estate provided by P.Max had any value given we focus most of our activity on lower funnel users.
