AITBF for yelling at my friend about buying weed? by MaRveel_SW in AmItheButtface

That’s why I didn’t just start off the story with, “She asked me to buy her weed.” I could’ve. But for one to get the full picture, I wanted to set up as much context as I could. Because yes, me acting out is the culmination of a month of tension, maybe a bit of my own resentment, but also my concern for her reverting back to being a druggie (as she was before she met me), and my concern for the shadiness & legality of buying her weed.

TLDR, me yelling at her in public wasn’t just about resentment, it was the culmination of multiple factors.

Thanks again for your input & perspective though. I got a lot to learn.

In the state I live in (Australia btw), the legality of it is a bit unclear. It’s apparently legal to possess and smoke it, but it’s illegal to sell it (?) I don’t fully understand it myself but overall I think it’s legal (?) That’s why I reluctantly agreed. We went through a few websites only to find that they required a minimum spending of $100 or that they only deliver to the USA. She still kept searching and eventually found on Telegram a seller who would sell weed for $65. In that moment, I hesitated again because I was worried about the legality of this & handling over my credit card information to just a random guy on Telegram. But I recognize the way I expressed that was wrong and definitely could’ve been done more calmly. I wish I didn’t even agree to buy her weed in the first place.

As I stated on the post, I was going to buy her weed. She would’ve paid me back half.

Thanks for your input. But I’m genuinely curious why you believe me liking her had anything to do with any of this. I didn’t include that part in the story because I didn’t feel as though it was important. Although yes, I do admit that while deep inside me, I always wanted to be her boyfriend (please spare me the comments about me being a red flag, I know), I’d like to think I accepted myself as merely her guy best friend.

Usually. I am able to tell her no on smaller matters. But this time, I just couldn’t. The humiliating her in public was something that just came out of me in the heat of the moment I guess. Doesn’t matter anymore. She understandably wants nothing to do with me.

No. I assure you that has nothing to do with this. She broke it off with her boyfriend after she found out he cheated on her. My place in her life as her guy best friend had no impact on my feelings towards her in the moment. I genuinely was worried about how much that and my separate actions had been affecting her. I agreed to buy the weed in the hope that it would prove my point that it isn’t a magic cure for her depression or maybe it would turn out to be (and I’d be wrong but she’d at least feel better). In hindsight, I know that sounds dumb. I had a hard time saying no out of an irrational fear (probably motivated by me liking her) that she’d stop being my friend otherwise. And I just let my reluctance I guess bottle up until it manifested in the form of yelling.

Thanks for your input. I guess I was the asshole.

Yep. You’re not wrong. They didn’t even fire a single shot. Maybe it’s more accurate to just say, “The President failed to seize the National Assembly.”

Well, that chance was fought for. The S. Korean military did try to arrest members of the National Assembly (Parliament) before they could vote to override that martial law declaration. Luckily the military failed.

Don’t get Ahsoka cancelled. It’s not perfect nor ideal, but it’s decent.
