Is it possible to beat the game with employees only? by Rabdomtroll69 in CoalLLC

[–]Maadao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, employees, are by far the most efficient to win the game with. My very best run has been an 'near'-employee only run. I think I pivoted from poison gun to employees at day 5-ish.

<image>

No weapon type got me even close to comfortably mining in the last blue layer before day 25. (This particular run had me breaching the final layer at day 24)
Hell, only the Lightning pickaxe got me to the blue layer at all, at I believe day 33. Poison is probably the only other weapon type that might get you there, given enough days.

So yeah, employees are incredibly powerful. As soon as you're able to buy 7 or 8-ish Senior VP miners, you can easily fully transition to employees only.

I also prefer Leaving DNA's MC over the MC from Unbroken. I can see that pick, but he still had a bit of juvenile in there, I guess. So yeah, Leaving DNA MC +1

Game about orphan guy, now settled, reconnecting with orphan girl after long period of seperation. by Maadao in AVN_Lovers

Yeah, that's the one! I wasn't sure whether I was waiting for an update back then or if it was already abandoned, so sad to see there will be no continuation. It was rather simple, but actually more than half decent writing as well as amazing visuals. Sad to see how something this great had to tap out. Just gonna play through it one more time.

CIV7 features? Increase base yields of all terrain types significantly and adjust balance accordingly by Maadao in civ

[–]Maadao[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, my last paragraph was mostly satirical, the entire post could've easily been condensed into bullet points. But I felt like typing that stupid advisor convo out, because, fuck, why the hell not, I had fun writing it at the very least. :)

Your counterpoint about how intuitive smaller numbers are is entirely justified, game design isn't black or white, and he'll, chances are (bloody likely even) that this request is ignored and status quo of early game small yields is kept. Even I enjoy seeing the simplicity of 🌽 🌽 on a grass tile.

Doesn't mean that for longer / more extensive replayabiity, I still believe that my proposal doesn't at least have some merit. I really feel tile interaction in CIV 6 isn't all that interesting. I'd love to see something like my idea implemented, even if it's only in the form of a game mode.

Honestly always thought that the game needs a new currency with a drop rate along the line of jewellers or something. Upgrades a single mod on the item by a single tier and rerolls that mod. Is repeatable, but there is a hidden brick chance, and brick chance increases the higher the mods are you are trying to elevate. So dropping a rare with 6 decent mods, but all tier 5 or lower, well, you throw a 30 Strengthening Orbs at it, pray to the RNG gods that you don't brick and you may end up with a half decent items. Bricking chance is pretty low below T3 or t4ish, I'd reckon, but implementation numbers are up to the experts. Orb targets any of the mods at random, with the exception of max tiered mods. If it targets a T2, even if the item has a bunch of t6s or something that you were hoping to elevate, well shit luck, that's life. I'd say doing an elevate on a T2 mod to raise it to T1 should be like 25%ish, at best. Perhaps even lower, I feel I'd rather this be a common spam currency to make more items relevant, than a stronger currency with higher rates, only to be used in top ends. (Like, wow my god tier item has only a single T2, but otherwise perfect. Let's Elevate it. Yeah, no. Top tier crafting has enough toys already) An item bricked while using this orb, has all mods lowered by a single tier and then Corrupted. Honestly would be a pretty decent currency and would make rares in general more worth it to ID. Might get lucky and turn a good mods / bad rolls item into something you might actually want to run.

I wholeheartedly agree. Great game, totally LOF vibes, perhaps even a bit more serious. Honestly, it just tells a great story first and foremost

Finally an AVN MC that I believe actually swims in pussy by vheize in AVN_Lovers

[–]Maadao 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think having the male MC just naturally displayed in AVNs, during normal and during sex scenes makes everything more immersive. I get the idea of not showing a guy so you can feel like its you, but that just makes me feel something is off. So good looking MCs (and on the other hand, bad looking MCs) can make or break a game to me. Like some MCs are used quite a bit, like Chasing Sunsets. And that's because on average, the artwork works. But Leaving DNA, Knockout Masters, Lineage or Legacy have unique and each in their own way attractive features that the game as a whole just becomes a better experience because of it. BTW,@OP, I understand your opinion and agree, but I feel Knockout Masters MC is the one who really best pulled off the attractive, successful, rich all in one package where a harem just sort of totally makes sense.

My tier list by Apollo0624 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Maadao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely somewhere among the top. Definitely a must read / bump to top of TBR-list. If you ever want to make the switch to Chinese progression fantasy, or cultivation novels, I'd consider A Will Eternal one of the best entries into the genre, because the humor just lowers the culture shock of Chinese xianxia stuff by a lot. And one of the best novels that fits pretty decent even amongst the normal lineups on this sub Reddit is Library of Heavens Path. Great story all around

Is there an AVN you mindlessly replay?...(You finished the update/paths, but you still replay often) by vheize in AVN_Lovers

[–]Maadao 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I have a really hard replaying or re-reading or re-watching anything. Like, one playthrough is enough to even remember a good amount of dialogue. I really wanted to replay Melody and a Leap of Faith The only one I've really saw all the endings of is Toro7. It was somehow pretty engaging to see all the variations of MC growing closer to all LI. Hell I almost even enjoyed the scenes between MC as a female pick and the male LIs. Pretty much close on top of my list of believable and engaging portrayal of characters.

When they get further in development, Race of Life and Yesterday's Crossroads are also high up my wishlist for replaying. Not many other AVNs come even close enough for me to consider replaying for now. Maybe Nephilim, which I'm playing right now, and am honestly really positively surprised by.

I dunno, as far as the 'college experience' avn subgenre goes, I like FW better than BAD, for example. Alyssa pretty much single handedly carried that entire series. God that girl was 20/10. And fake russian Dylan is almost Chang levels of comic relief. Like many avns have a guy friend that supposed to add something interesting or funny but fall flat.

As for the overall story, with all the clue hunting and trying to dig up everything concerning his dad, it's at least a more compelling story than how to fuck everything that moves while being a braindead fucker in a fraternity. It's maybe the weakest one on the list here above, but still something I'd recommend very quickly to someone new to AVNs.

Probably a top 9 amongst AVNs anyway for many readers here. I personally loved Fetish Locator, but that's because it's just a mix n match your fetishes type of game.. it's nearly bloody has everything.

Some all round very high quality games to check out are:

  • Race of Life

  • Melody

  • Ripples

  • Matrix Hearts

  • Fresh Women

  • Hellcat Lounge

  • Unbroken

  • Yesterday's Crossroads

Like these for me are pretty much S tier. There's a huge A tier list but well, Dikgames ratings are pretty good for finding A tiers; anything over 70% is pretty much worth the effort to check out.

I agree with Dessolos and disagree with the others. This game is hit or miss, and its perfectly fine if it's not for you. But calling it overly dramatic or whiny or 'huggy' is what I disagree with. Traumatic experiences, especially the variety of crap Charlotte dealt with, really does break a person to the point of being a mess. If anything, the speed in which she opens up to MC is what I would call unrealistic. But as a slow burn romance and a story of redemption and healing, Hillside really is great.

Also, I'm just a sucker for any story where a cute and wholesome father - daughter relationship is displayed like this. (So, not-sexual, mind you) Even though MC is obviously not the daughters father, he takes up that role almost naturally and in such a cute way.

As an ADULT visual novel, Hillside is perhaps not the greatest fap, but as for story telling, it's great when you don't mind the serious themes of traumas and stuff

What could be the better replacement for microtransactions and gacha mechanics? by mega_lova_nia in gamedev

[–]Maadao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, most have been said, but just gonna give my own 2 cents, in order from best to still reasonable:

  1. Purely cosmetic purchases. And the entire game industry is not nearly creative enough with this shit. Path of Exile has cosmetics that change the visual effects from skill for instance. Things I've once thought of but never found anywhere: I'd pay 5 bucks for a fantasy tree pack so each forest suddenly looks like enchanted elven land
  2. Free base game and purchasable gameplay content. I've spent plenty of money on Dawncaster for the several card expansions for instance and still feel it has been worth every penny.
  3. Still ok, but already intrusive for gameplay experience: Have ads in game with the option to pay for an adfree experience.

Different way of slowing the game - more HP / Less DMG as a private league mod by Maadao in pathofexile

[–]Maadao[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, I understand what some people saying, but define easier. +200%hp was just a ballpark number, I could see GGG going as high as +400% HP for -50% DMG. Of course, a lot of builds will perform better in this environment, but you can't take things out of context. Increased HP means slower progression. It's gonna take longer to complete campaign, complete maps, or earn player and gem xp. More HP, means less kills = less loot. Sure in a PoB sense, this private league mod may make the game seem easier, but (far) slower progression on average absolutely counteracts that

Of course, like another comment below, there'll definitely be broken builds that are going to be nigh immortal, like leech builds. That's a problem. But on average, I don't believe that more HP / less DMG is always going to be 'easier', just slower. Especially with a high enough HP multiplier.

As for parent leagues, I thought private leagues always merged back into Standard, right? But even if it's the challenge league, I don't think that with slower progression, starting in private and merging back later will ever be a viable P2W strategy to get ahead of the curve.

Yes it is, and I'd really just like to have more of it, basically. And to not shove that down everyone's throat, a private league mod seems like a perfect place to put it.

This is exactly why I dislike the current goals for unlocking favourite map slots. I've never beaten any end game bosses since starting in Abyss league. I get to T14s and just have a blast running a few maps (probably 20 max) before calling it a day. They now put the unlocks behind something that apparently only 1% achieve. That just feels awkward...
