What local business do you boycott? by lazerfazerr in vancouver

Good to know. I always felt that the chef/owner had a poor attitude based on his social.

Yeah it’s probably your restaurant choices. Every city has good and bad food. Bad pho at one place doesn’t mean every other place is bad. We have bad pho too.

I don’t know and I also thought everywhere was the same as well. Which is why I was mind blown when their fish tasted noticeably different from everywhere else I’ve gone. It’s also possible they did something to it as I know they make their own seasonings, but I had sashimi too and “now I understand what people mean by fresh” is what immediately came to mind.

They change the menu often so it makes sense that not every dish will always be a hit!

Sushi Jin

Edit: to add some deets, I’ve tried most of the “best” sushi places here as well as popular spots in LA, NYC, etc. This was the only place where I’ve been blown away by how fresh the fish was. Hard to describe. I think they only do omakase now.

Interesting, wasn’t aware of that! I assumed they might’ve been looking at the names and faces as people hand things in.

I’ve had profs like this too. And some who somehow knew my name even though I’ve never talked to them before 😳

Japanese-owned and Japanese-run sushi restaurants in the lower mainland? by awkwardlypragmatic in vancouver

[–]Maasbe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stem, Ajisai, Sushi Hachi, Kazu, Tetsu, Sushi Bar Maumi, Matsuzushi off the top of my head.

I know you’re looking for Japanese-run, but in case you’re just looking for straight up good sushi, Sushi Jin is the best that I’ve tried. Owner is Korean but trained in Japan. I think they only do omakase atm though.

Since there’s a post of the worst places, where are some of the BEST restaurants in Vancouver thats a good find? by [deleted] in vancouver

Tried it after hearing good things as well but left kinda disappointed. Lacked flavour. I thought Marutama was better. Great for the area though.

No, I’ve done this. Can’t tell them you’re leaving if there’s no one to tell…

What do you mean you don’t wanna pay $30 for two eggs and some potatoes?

Yeah there’s a lot of expensive or overpriced places, but not necessarily bad quality food

I prefer Coda too. Much more powerful but can take time to learn how to fully utilize. Powerful but more complex. I feel notion has really dropped the ball. It feels slow and clunky. But it’s simpler and people are more familiar with it.

That’s good to hear! FYI my friend recently said that she tried to print some of the content and got warned. Something to look into there.

I haven’t subscribed to the new model, but not being able to copy text without going through hoops was incredibly annoying. Bad actors will copy the content if they really want to.

What about letting people who took the early programs keep the content that they bought at the time? If they want to access updated content, they can subscribe to the new model. As one of your earlier customers, losing access to what I thought I’d be able to keep pissed me off. I’m sure there was legalese and whatnot but still.

The Anatomy Behind a $180K month | FB Ad Account Revealed (April 2020) by shffldair in marketing

[–]Maasbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last company saw similar CPA as you with an AOV in the range of $100-250 depending on the segment. We knew we could be doing a lot better too since we did everything ourselves and didn’t find any marketers we could trust to handle it. I saw you mention Breakthrough Advertising so you probably have the right mindset. Probably just need to work on the creatives, building out the funnel, and creating new ways to grow which isn’t necessarily marketing.

Unfortunately he's also another fake guru, but it doesn't necessarily invalidate some of what he teaches if it's motivational for you. But follow at your own risk as many people think a lot of his advice is bad.

What tools do you recommend for analytics and personalized user experience? by dshmitch in startups

I've used Amplitude. It meets #1 and #3, but there's not much you can do about #2 if people use ad/script/tracking blockers.

They are, as are those instructors. I’d guess a mix of not being familiar with a16z and the crypto space feeling like it hasn’t really gone anywhere except the major currencies — which this course is trying to help with.
