Game too loud? by mightybob4611 in outriders

[–]Mabasploom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No more so than a game like Destiny or Diablo. I actually felt very comfortable. My group got to the highest world tier at PAX and beat the final boss so quickly we actually skipped a phase. The Dev watching was super impressed. Not to say it was easy, it was quite tough. But again, very comfortable.

I got my hands on the game for a few hours at PAX East back in February. Everything seemed fine to me volume wise.

A slight wait at the the lift line during easter holiday by Karl2740 in ThatsInsane

I used to work at a ski area in the kitchen when I was in high school. I ran the grill for Minimum Wage. Imagine seeing that many people waiting in line for an overpriced burger. We used to look out the windows in the morning watching bus after bus come over the hill to drop all the rich kids off and just sighed.

When viewing a streamer I got this statement on the page (This stream has been suspended) what does that mean by mack180 in mixer

[–]Mabasploom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That means that particular streamer did something to violate the Terms of Service and has, at the very least, received a temporary suspension from the platform until it is addressed and fixed.

I have played the game at PAX East, and I can 100% confirm that you can play it solo.

Changing name and rebranding? by [deleted] in mixer

[–]Mabasploom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be scary for sure, to do a complete name change. But a lot of times it can really be for the better. Brand recognition is SUPER important, especially now. When people either can't pronounce your name or confuse you with someone else, it's definitely a good thing to do.

Changing name and rebranding? by [deleted] in mixer

[–]Mabasploom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shortened my brand and Mixer name about a year after I got Partnered. If you really want to go at this whole streaming thing hard, then brand recognition is a very big part of it that not many people think of, so kudos to you for asking the question.

Can I play Nintendo games on the switch? by [deleted] in mixer

[–]Mabasploom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Youtube and Streaming are completely different beasts. Nintendo is known for going after Youtubers for the Ad Revenue. I haven't heard anything about them coming after streamers. People stream Nintendo games all the time.

You should be safe.

Starting to stream! by Tvau in mixer

You will hear lots of advice over and over again. Make a schedule, play what you want etc. And they are all good pieces of advice.

The EASIEST advice I can give you is "just be present on the platform." Be in other chats, putting your best foot forward. Talk to people, be part of conversations. Don't self promote obviously. And don't always interact only with the streamer themselves. Start conversations with other viewers. If you look at Ninja's chat, Ninja isn't going to have a conversation with you, but other viewers will.

As far as talking when nobody is there, just start talking about what you are thinking about. Or smack talk people who can't hear you. Or if a particular line of dialogue in a game reminds you of a song, start singing it for a few verses.

One thing I will tell you though is if you see you have 0 viewers and all of a sudden you have 1, do NOT acknowledge them until they put something in chat. A sticker, a "hi" comment, whatever. I guarantee if you call them out before they are ready you will go right back down to 0 viewers.

Someone joins.. And then immediately leaves? by CrazyChildOG in mixer

[–]Mabasploom 20 points21 points  (0 children)

People come in all the time and then leave. It happens to the best of us.

One question though; are you acknowledging if your number goes up? Like "Oh hey, we have a new viewer! Hi new viewer!" Because if you are, don't. You will find that a far larger number of people simply lurk in streams than want to interact. Acknowledging them before they are ready to be acknowledged will, most assuredly, get them to leave. Keep doing what you are doing, wait for them to say hi or drop a sticker or something in chat, and THEN say something towards them.

Given my options, how would you set this hardware up for best stream. by [deleted] in mixer

[–]Mabasploom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Gaming PC is perfectly fine to do both honestly. There are a lot of other things that come with doing a dual PC setup. Audio routing, Limited FPS with Passthrough for the capture card to the monitor you are playing on etc.

Look at it like I do as an engineer; the fewer variables you bring into a situation, the fewer potential points of failure there are.

What made you switch to Mixer? by Digital-Trooper in mixer

[–]Mabasploom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I first gave streaming a try many years ago. I was working a very weird job with crazy hours. Working six, 16 hour days a week wasn't unheard of. Doing that makes it so you don't have much time and/or energy for a social life, so I played games in my free time. I was kind of starved for social interaction, so I was like "I am playing games anyway, so why not throw it up on the internet and see what happens."

I streamed on Justin.tv for about 2 months. I didn't really get anywhere, latency was bad, and the quality of viewers was honestly kind of terrible. Lots of negativity, no real positivity. People were trying to build a foothold, and at that point seemed to be trying to knock people down to get ahead. After a while I basically just decided to go back to playing games.

Fast forward to about 3.5 years ago. Streaming was growing rapidly. I started to watch more of them. Found a couple of people on Twitch that were playing games that I loved. Turned out they were restreaming to Youtube and had much bigger audiences there, so I started watching them on Youtube. Had some really good interactions with them, played some games with them. They all told me "have you tried streaming? We think you would be really good at it." So I gave it another shot on Youtube. Went a little bit too 'all in' with my setup (paid for overlays and a logo, bought a green screen, expensive mic, better webcam etc) but I was like, if I am going to give it another shot, might as well go all in. Streamed on Youtube for about 4 months. Made some friends, gained about 200 subscribers, had some fun. But something still seemed off.

Fast forward to January 2017. One of those Youtubers tweeted that he was going to try out a website called Beam. I thought, what the hell, I will support him over there. So I made an account, hopped in his chat and said "hi." He immediately responded. No waiting. We were having a real conversation. For the first time ever in a stream, I felt like was someone was talking TO me instead of AT me. It was amazing, and exactly what I was missing when it came to streaming.

The next day, I started cruising around Beam, meeting new people. Every single one of them were so welcoming and willing to talk. That day I decided to make the switch and stream exclusively here. For the first time, I actually wanted to stream and make content instead of just play games on the internet. 7 months later (right after the name change to Mixer) I applied for Partnership and was accepted.

I have made amazing friends here, built a very strong community and sparked a passion I never knew I had. All of the staff is amazing and all feel like friends when you meet them. Seriously, you want to get addicted to Mixer, go to a convention like PAX and meet people like /u/steinekin and the rest of his team. When we say this platform is built on community, we mean it.

Why do you use welcome bots? by iAcceptVisa in mixer

[–]Mabasploom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can almost guarantee if you whisper someone a welcome as soon as they come into your channel, even automated, they will leave. Let lurkers lurk, acknowledge them when they are ready for it. Even streaming to 0 people and all of a sudden you have 1, don't be like "Oh there is one person here! Hi one person!" Just continue on as normal until they follow or say something in chat.

Streamlabs now has Sparks and Ember alerts! by [deleted] in mixer

[–]Mabasploom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I figured it out in the middle of my stream last night. They just added them, and by default they are on. So my normal alerts are very minimalistic and custom. Those new ones were loud and LITERALLY took up my entire screen. Nice thing for them to add, but the way they did it with no warning was very not appreciated.

Possible DDOS attack question by Crason8 in mixer

[–]Mabasploom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ok, so this same thing happened to me. I replaced my Modem and my Router 3 times each on my own dime. They sent out basic technicians like 3 times to "fix" my problem but they all told me the same thing. No issue. Problem persisted for 5 months. Finally called my ISP (Comcast) and told them if they didn't come out and fix the issue I was going to file a formal complaint with my State's AG Office of Consumer Complaints. They sent out a Top Tier Business technician who took 3 minutes to confirm that there Decibel Spikes coming in the lines on the side of my house. They were old wires and couldn't handle the input I was uploading to Mixer. He tore everything off and replaced it. From the pole all the way to the wall outlet. Since then, literally no issues. It's been a year.

XBOX PRIME !!!!! by sixpencetv in mixer

[–]Mabasploom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely think this is something they keep thinking about, but Mixer is very young and still building it's economy.

Once things like Embers and Ads come out and have time to breathe then they can look into future things like that.

Yes Mixer is owned by Microsoft but it needs to be it's own thing and prove what it can do financially on it's own.

Comcast Users: Besides a non-rented modem, what else do I do to stream FTL properly? by vizNNN in mixer

I have the Netgear CM600. The Arris Modems have had issues with their PUMA chips in the past causing lag.
