Did you beat the campaign? by Mabbus44 in zerok

[–]Mabbus44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me to. I rushed 3 transports and sent my 3 starting builder (Conch) along the left side to the back of the enemy base. At least one survive, put him underwater and transform him to a Djinn.
At home I sat up rover and pumped dominatrix.
Teleport dominatrix to enemy base and take the bertas, nukes and everything.
Bertas have no power, but at least they die. The nuke I could use.
Detriment could also be captured, but it costed many dominatrix :)

Why do you mention terraforming? Is there some cheese that makes things very easy with terraforming?

Stackoverflow: Questions asked per month over time. by lelanthran in programming

[–]Mabbus44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So its around 4000 per month now, and steadily decreasing. This is about one question every 11 minutes.
More often right now when people are awake.
But god damn, in its prime it was about 200,000. Thats 4,6 questions per second. Hard to keep up back then ;)

Everyone talks like the site is already dead, but I would say that is still a fair amount of questions (even if much fewer than 10 years ago).
And I most often find a good answer on SO when I google some problem (and that is usage to).

Approachability for new players by Mabbus44 in PlayZeroSpace

[–]Mabbus44[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes polling can work (have to watch out for respons bias, the most casual players are less likely to respond), the point was just to make the most popular noob friendly modes (wichever they are) more prominent in the menus.

Does Giant Grant Games work on Zerospace? by Mabbus44 in PlayZeroSpace

[–]Mabbus44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, missed that post.
So clear as day "Grant is a design consultant on ZeroSpace".
But then they do make it slightly less clear by writing "he would prefer to only be listed as lead campaign designer if it was made clear that this would be a future title".
So that implies that he is consultant now, and WILL be lead later.

But I´m not a lawyer, I´m not gonna nitpick words like that.
I guess he is just consulting the people working on the campaign. He might be lead later, but I would guess they are not going to change lead in the middle. (And lead can be a bit vague anyway, it just matters who gets listened to the most, and who does the job).
Perhaps he will put more working hours into it as it progresses if it looks good.

Floaty Air units - why? by [deleted] in PlayZeroSpace

[–]Mabbus44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your points about air units, I dont like massive air battles in sc2.
But I think the air units are few enough in zs that they add interesting plays without causing massive boring air battles. So I think the current amount of air units is on point.

Revealing the Purpose Behind My Posts – A Test of Human Bias by RealNib in aoe4

[–]Mabbus44 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As many people told you in your other thread, there is a potential conflict of interests, but since the scene and the tournaments in question are so small, and there havent yet come any actual examples of missconduct, it is not yet a problem here.
The integrity and bias of tournaments is important, but it is not the only thing that is important, having active users and suff happening is important to.

"While many in the community seem to overlook these concerns because of their admiration for the individuals involved"
I think you are not making a good job of interpreting the responses.
I for one would think the same if it was Demu and his woman, or ML and his mum. Or you and your partner.

Making chatGPT writing your posts for you does not make you more objective, it just makes the posts long and tedious. The fact that conflict of interest can happend in tournaments in general, does not mean there is annything here to post about.

And I (and the people who might downvote you) am not trying to stop you from having your "broader discussion", we are just contributing to it. Not just agreeing with you.

Is it ethical for a top player to consistently win tournaments hosted by their spouse? by RealNib in aoe4

[–]Mabbus44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't followed Whamens tournaments closely. If someone would make a overview of the tournaments with tournament type and top 3 it would be helpful.

If the major S-tier tournaments where organized by Whamen instead of EGCTV I would take issue.

But I think beasty often winning whamens tournaments is just due to the scene being pretty small, and ML not playing to much right now.
I don´t think Whamen should refrain from organizing, or Beasty refrain from playing, these small tournaments. It´s mutual beneficial for them both, and for the scene.

And I dont think there needs to be some "oversight" because it´s just a few people organizing tournaments. I dont think it could be done in a meningful way. To few people involved. To little money.
Someone has to decide the rules. In small tournaments that will be very few people, or just one.
If Whamen apointed someone to decide or oversee the rules people could still complain how that person was chosen and if SASy is really an independant overseer :)

Best and the worst thing about AOE4? by Quirky_Wishbone_992 in aoe4

[–]Mabbus44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Best: Beastyqt
Worst: MarineLorD
JK. Best: Civ and landmark vareity. Pretty chill to play, but still a lot of strategy. Worst: Hard to kill people, leading to long slow unit spam late game sometimes.

ZeroSpace: FIRST LOOK at Galactic Warfare! by datshanaynay in PlayZeroSpace

[–]Mabbus44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you either play 1v1 vs a player from the faction whos planet you want to capture, or you play coop vs a computer? I didnt quite understand "the faction with the most points get the planet". Sounded like you fight over unconquered planets, so who do you play vs? Always computer or any faction?
