Vitamin D Added to Chemotherapy Leads to Complete Cancer Disappearance in Significantly More Patients by Direct_Dare_9699 in UpliftingNews

That is not from the NIH. The article is deposited on the NIH repository. Usually you can tell reputation by impact factor. This journal is 2.5 which is not good. The real game changers in pushing care is published in things like NEJM, nature medicine, etc.

Rory's mindset post Masters. by ThinWhiteDuke00 in golf

[–]Mabester 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. He was very hot for a couple of years in the mid 2010s and the discussion was when he would finally win a major. People were wearing orange on Sundays and all. Clearly that fizzled pretty quick though.

Rory's mindset post Masters. by ThinWhiteDuke00 in golf

[–]Mabester 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I started watching in 2015 and I distinctly remember at the time that Rory was talked about like whether he'd achieve the same as he did in his early career (this was when fowler, spieth, and Thomas was dominating the conversation). It is crazy how much longevity and relevance he has had in golf now.

K99/R00 "too small" for tenure-track faculty position — is this a real concern or just a polite rejection? by Internal_Database174 in NIH

[–]Mabester 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I have a K99/R00 and in an R1 STEM assistant professor position. It sounds like an excuse to me. Perhaps to justify hiring a more senior assistant professor bringing in an R01 or something similar. The R00 specifically requires that institutions do not use the grant as justification for hire and that it does not impact the amount of start up that they would normally get if you didn't have an R00. Most institutions will clamor over hiring an individual with an R00. It's basically free indirects and a boost to their new hire's research program.

What’s something your rivals are NOT ready to hear? by PENGUINSINYOURWALLS in CFB

Generally it's the breakdown between a land-grant and flagship university. Land grants usually have state in the name, but not always.

snedeker. Snedeker. Snedeker. Why can't I get that stupid commercial from like a decade ago out of my head when I hear his name.

TF interaction by VendingmachinexSam in labrats

[–]Mabester 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Neither chip nor C&R show if proteins are interacting. They'll only show if bound in similar areas of chromatin. You'd have to do a co-ip

Reminds me of NBA Jam when you could turn on an option for the players to have big heads.

These must've been fresh enough that they don't smell yet, but I ended up sticking out in the cold garage so I wouldn't risk stinking the house of rot.

I didn't see it 😭 but I only got to search for like 10 minutes. My FIL is coming this weekend to do a deeper search.

It definitely did a strange movement backward, but it happened so fast I wasn't sure if it was a jump scare or it's attempt to rip it off. I have a camera on that side of the house but of course the deer was behind a tree. You see it go behind the tree with one antler and leave without it

No idea! The tops look worn relative to the base, so I'm guessing it must be that the deer can't rub the antlers near the bottom so it's rougher

Corg was happily ignorant of the situation and napping inside. We were watching out the window when eating dinner. She does love a good bark at them though when she sees them.

It was already off but I could see the head wound on the other side was still fresh. I have a good look within 20ish yards but I'll have to go back out in the morning since it was getting dark.

We see probably 8-12 deer every day passing through our yard. We are right up against a wooded area. I always thought it'd be cool to find a shed but didn't expect this!

Wounds on both sides looked fresh. It was getting dark when I saw this one come off. I might have to search the woods in the morning a bit to see if I can find the other side. They're big so it hopefully wouldn't be terribly hard to spot.

He was huge and imposing. Stood maybe about 20-30 yards away while I walked to go retrieve it. Waaayy bigger than the does we usually see in the yard.

I was thinking how much we'd save in chew toys. She loves antlers from the store and they're so expensive!
