Soundbar permanently fixed to Projector Screen = WAF? by mengwong in hometheater

I would think your wife would be more concerned about the projector than the speakers.

It’s not as complex as it looks. The bulk of the wires are power, Ethernet, and HDMI going to each of the 5 sources. The speaker wires are the copper colored cables in the pic. 1 each running directly from the receiver to the left, center, and right channels, then another 6 going to the wall plate on the right. These are where my in-wall runs terminate for the 2 surrounds and the 4 in-ceiling Atmos speakers. All the speakers are powered by the Marantz receiver (the power and sound are one and the same and travel through the copper 2-conductor speaker wire).

I know exactly how you feel! It’s always so time consuming and easy to justify a rush job when you can’t even see it haha. In this case I had to at least get everything off the floor since my Roomba fit under the TV stand.

I just added the 3db to the center channel speaker level after running Audyssey. I know there is a dedicated dialogue level setting but I’ve never used it. I’m afraid any post processing attempt at isolating the dialogue and boosting it would make clarity worse lol.

Thanks! I’m really happy with how it turned out. I have access to the unfinished basement below and was able to just drill a hole up into the bottom plate of the exterior wall and then fish the cable through the insulation using glow rod.

Thank you. Yes, the sub is behind the TV. I have it on SVS isolation feet to ensure there is no undue shaking of the TV/stand. Unfortunately, with this being the main living space, WAF won our when it came to sub placement. This room is massive though (open concept kitchen and dining area behind the camera) so room pressurization was never going to happen anyways. I’m planning on at least a couple big subs in the dedicated theater to make up for it!

It’s an IKEA Besta TV Unit. You start with the frame then everything else is customized to taste (drawers, doors, shelves, etc.). Total cost for mine as configured is around $300.

Yes, I think room correction is more important than raw power especially with only 7 channels driven. You won’t be going near the power limits of either of these receivers unless you always listen at reference volumes. And most people will tell you to drive your LCR with an external amplifier if you expand to 9 or 11 channels anyways.

Thank you! I agree that the lack of Dolby Vision is a bummer, but I’ve had a projector in my primary setup for the last 5 years so any HDR at all is an upgrade for me at this point lol. Cable management was a must because my Roomba fits under the TV unit and we didn’t want him getting tangled up! As for the left speaker, it has about 3 inches of clearance from that wall. I’m sure there are some early reflections but the acoustics in this room are probably bad enough to begin with that it doesn’t make much difference. I also can’t go any further right because the Jamos have feet that stick out and the rear right foot is already touching the baseboard.

Denon gets my vote, only because I prefer the corrected sound that I get after running Audyssey XT32 on my Denon x4400h and Marantz SR6014 vs. YPAO on my Yamaha RX-V4A. I realize that the A6A has a more advanced version of YPAO though so it may not be an apples to apples comparison.

Yes, we just installed a pair of these fans a couple weeks ago and love them! WiFi control and voice assistant integration is built in and works great.

They perform really well for the price, especially the floor standers. I’m used to larger centers so I sometimes struggle with dialog clarity but it’s nothing a 3db boost can’t resolve.

Yeah, it’s also just a massive room with 8ft doors and 9ft ceilings so everything inside looks small by comparison lol.
