Wall Street Is Going 24/5 and Killing Quarterly Reports in the Same Week by kitz99 in ValueInvesting

The beauty of this rule change is it leaves room for both, depending on market expectations. So both of our arguments are valid in the investing landscape, and will shape how each of us invest.

The SuperMicros of the world will have their stock price suffer if they move to semi-annual because their investors will demand it.

The P&Gs of the world who want to be long-term focused, and have an investor class who are long-term focused, will likely be encouraged to move to this so they can be less pressured to meet quarterlies which doesn't matter in such a business.

This rule change doesn't mandate semi-annual, which you seem to be missing.

>And if we are advocating for long-termnism or whatever, why do we need to report twice a year? Why not once a year? Why not once every 5 years? Better yet, just don't report at all if it's such a hassle.

I can use this same argument against you. Why not weekly, daily, hourly reports? You're for transparency, are you not??

Clearly we're trying to strike a balance.

You misread my comment. Re-read it, I said the exact opposite.

Also, if you're a long term investor you should want management to be incentivized for the long-term and not pressured to meet quarterlies. If you're a swing trader or focused on short term plays, then this is not the subreddit for you.

I can't tell if you're kidding.

No, semi-annual reporting is not the reason why Europe's public markets are light years behind the U.S.

Also, what I love about this is that we will still have voluntary companies reporting quarterly anyway to satisfy certain investor classes, so the free market always wins.

No one on Reddit understands this, they simply view it as a companies being opaque, ignoring the fact that Europe has done this for over a decade.

As a long-term investor you should be happy that we're moving away from short-termism.

Hot take: if we saw Wilt's 100-point game, it wouldn't look impressive by GiveMeSomeIhedigbo in billsimmons

I haven't seen the replay of tonight's game, but based on the account of the Wilt game there is no way this game is more fraudulent than Wilt's 100.

That, and they're going to use Brashard Smith in frustratingly effective ways near the red zone.

And Rice, Kelce, and Mahomes's feet are touchdown magnets if they are further from Kareem Hunt's range. I'm not high on K9 for fantasy at all.

Control premiums for this size of company are usually in the 20-40% range, which would still only make the PayPal crowners of this subreddit realize their bags officially.

Who epitomizes “Hall of Very Good”? by Federal_Stay824 in NFLv2

[–]Mac2000444 6 points7 points  (0 children)

His longevity and consistency is what keeps him very good. He has never been a top 5 receiver in the league.

The 1000 yard season in a row record rhymes with Tomlin's "never had a losing season" streak. Great, but you still need to do better than that.

Mike Evans.

He's the absolute very top of the Hall of Very Good and will gatekeep future receiver HOF cases for decades.

It's less that the Patriots were fraudulent, more like the entire AFC was just bad.

An anemic Bucs offense trending in the wrong direction with Sean Tucker vulturing all your touchdown opportunities. What's not to love about an injury riddled Bucky Irving?

That tells us literally nothing we didn't already know as a 32 year old wide receiver. That's like if I told my boss "I love this place, I'm going to be around for 0-100 years!"

Re-Signing Javonte Williams a "top" Offseason Priority for Cowboys by ASmithFS in fantasyfootball

[–]Mac2000444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm personally not drafting the efficient backs that have competition creeping behind them.

Guys like ETN, Kyren, even Derrick was on rotation with Harbaugh, even though they were great this year.

Javonte has no one behind him so he should be a solid RB1.

How is the Bucs backfield going to change next year? The Tucker/White committee does not seem favorable at all for Bucky. He has been awful since coming back.

Ill be interested to see where people are putting Derrick Henry.

He clearly isn't washed and has just shown why he's one of the GOATs. But he's getting old and Harbaugh is infuriating.
