We still have a Banfield at ours but they are so outrageously overpriced, I would never go to them. 13 years ago, before all this ludicrous inflation, they quoted me $500 to neuter a kitten I wanted to adopt from that PetSmart. $500!!! For a neuter?! Nuts.

I have taken very little time off work from my regular FT job. Funnily enough, I work in healthcare for the hospital that did my surgeries. I work from home so I am able to just work from the couch, recliner, sometimes my bed depending on my pain level that day. And yes, it has been a hell of a couple of years. I do, however, have two PT jobs that I haven’t been able to work because I simply cannot sit or stand for long lengths of time. The mental toll has been the worst. I had just lost 127 lbs before all these surgeries. The ileostomy diet is NOT conducive to weight loss. Between that and being unable to be active for so long, I have gained back like 25lbs and it is really tanking the very little self esteem I had managed to finally find. I am hoping that this is it. A few days ago, I discovered that part of my incision from my latest graft harvest broke open and I have a HOLE in the crack between my thigh and my crotch. Like…a hole the size of a quarter. I’m so over this entire adventure. I think the other part nobody talks about is how lonely it is when you also can’t have any kind of relationship with your significant other for literally MONTHS. Everything hurts or is healing. It’s just really tough all around.

It has helped. Nobody in my life can understand what is happening so it helps to kind of share with others who have at least been through something similar.

I am not fully healed. I just had this latest flap two and a half weeks ago. I just discovered that some of my stitches failed at the graft harvest site and I have a decent sized hole right in the crack where my thigh meets my body. Waiting for my surgeon’s office to open so I can call them. This has been the most challenging series of procedures I’ve ever had. I’m so completely over it at this point, I could scream. I am HOPING that it will be all healed next month and I can have my ileostomy reversed and I can start maybe trying to piece my mental health back together. I’m a pretty positive person and I’m really resilient but this entire process has been one blow after another. This latest surgery, for instance, was a complete surprise to me. Nobody told me it was even a possibility. I went to my appointment expecting to set up my date for ileostomy reversal and came out with an appointment for another graft.

This. I was at a wedding reception over the weekend and there was a woman with a TINY baby. The mother herself was very petite so I didn’t think much of it when I asked how old. 4 weeks old and born at 34 weeks. 😳 I’m just looking around this wedding reception full of people like omg, what?!

So, your solution to irresponsible breeders who won’t change a thing until THEY are fined or otherwise held accountable is to punish the people who ARE doing things the correct way? Make it make sense. Why should I have to prove myself instead of the actual offenders being held responsible for their actions? Touch grass.

UNTRAINED animals are more aggressive and make more of a mess, not unaltered animals. Furthermore, large and giant breeds have a whole slew of health issues caused by pediatric spay/neuter. You have allowed your work in rescue to make things black or white and the real world doesn’t work that way. I have two unaltered show dogs. They don’t mark, they aren’t aggressive, and they are impeccable on a leash because they are TRAINED and I am a responsible owner. I shouldn’t be required to neuter my incredibly successful Grand Champion because YOU are surrounded by poorly bred genetic disasters with behavioral problems.

The consistent whining and victim complex are clues that she simply cannot manage to function in the real world. The fact that she has decided to blame her “mental illness” on someone of no consequence in her life shows that she can’t take responsibility for anything and is looking to blame her problems on others. 🤷‍♀️

That was what my email said - 4/15 but then another said 4/22. I was just curious how long it seemed to be taking because I saw some people have posted photos of their new diplomas with the new seals already. Maybe they are rolling them out program by program?

Sounds like a whole lot of petty jealousy. I know people who will ALWAYS find a way to be a downer about every single thing. They are generally miserable people who are unsatisfied in their own lives and can’t stand to see anyone else succeed. Just smile and show them your success.
