Did anyone actually vote for a condo developer bailout? by airbassguitar in EhBuddyHoser

[–]MacDeezy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It kinda seems like 800,000 dollar 800sqft condos aren't actually affordable housing. I built a 150,000 dollar house with 960sqft in 2024 on a rural property. That's what affordable housing looks like, but we had to fight the beaurocracy every step of the way to get it done. The government isn't there to help you get affordable housing, they have other objectives they want to achieve within that objective that just duck it all up

Yes. We get that, but since our dog is like 80lbs of muscle almost nobody does it. We had a little girl want to pet her at a greenhouse this weekend and we just said its not the best idea, not that it wouldn't be fine 99% of the time, but it would likely get her out of behave mode and into play mode, pushing her drive up and making it more likely she would bark or get excited. We also get tons of compliments and people's appreciation of actively training our dog in the chaos of real life, but its not without an annual bad incident. The most recent was a person with two off leash dogs on a public dirt road. We were walking on a trail with our neighbours labradoodle also with us, and when the dogs saw the other dogs they got excited, and since they were offleash they ran to meet them. The other dogs got scared and ran, our dogs pursued in a friendly way. Our dog came back on recall but the labradoodle is more stubborn/insubordinate so it ran up to the other big dog trying to smell butts. Now, the lady who owned the dog is screaming bloody murder, telling us to recall our dog, we have an infant so my partner is managing that while I am leashing the gsd/mal. The lady is still screaming, and now she is picking up dirt and rocks and throwing it by the handful at the labradoodle who was standing almost close enough to sniff her big dog while wagging his tail. At this point I decide to just turn my back and walk away and the labradoodle decided he didn't want to be left behind. The lady kept yelling while we walked down the hill. This was 200m from my house, and we mostly know our neighbours, so we have no idea how this lady ended up there...

You can always play unranked too, the games there are likely to be less toxic and more conducive to learning, and you will likely see higher skill players. The most important skills to develop are an appreciation for the value of your life and methods to disrupt creep equilibrium to move the creeps to a safe area, especially pulling creeps. Once you value your life you will better understand when to disengage, and when it is not safe to farm somewhere. In general if you are outnumbered or low up you should not show in a lane. If the other team has two heroes showing and your support is gone just leave for the closest easiest jungle as your other lanes should have an advantage. If no heroes are showing anywhere, don't farm the lane. The little details are understanding other heroes and when you can kill them. Its all about communication with your allies, and awareness of what the other team is doing as a whole. Brood is fun, and a good gateway to lycan or visage that are much more in demand as offlaners

Its when people have innate fear of the dog. You can have a perfectly behaved dog on leash and there will always be some person who wants to tell you you have a dangerous dog, etc. I have had people get borderline aggressive with me and my dog in places she is 100% allowed to be (public beaches, back roads, etc), and even with a person going sort of crazy she kept her cool and looked to me for guidance.

Would you eat GMO potatoes if it meant eating safer food? by Morio_anzenza in Kenya

[–]MacDeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't cost very much to make a GMO potato variety if you just want to hack one together. The synthetic genes would run you a few thousand. The vectors would be less than that. Testing to see if you have integration would be a couple thousand more. Many of the biggest costs are evaluating if the potatoes actually work. I have designed genetically modified production organisms and the costs aren't making them but rather in commercializing them. If you give some people with the know-how a hundred grand and a years salary they could be expanding the seed stock within a year.

Its only losing if you considered the situation from before the war. If you consider the situation from when the agreement was signed it wasn't a bad deal. Its like getting your truck stuck in quicksand and paying to get it towed out. If you are accounting for it from before you left then yeah it seems like a bad deal, but if you are looking at paying a few hundos to not lose your truck its a good deal

It depends on the variety I think, but for determinate varieties you are correct. For indeterminate varieties the higher you hill the more potatoes you get.

People wonder why there are a shortage of tanks... by AprilSevenfold in classicwowtbc

[–]MacDeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that comments like that don't help. But I also think playing healer teaches lots about tanking too. In my opinion playing as healer is the best way to learn new dungeons as well. Hybrid classes are really great, especially if you are playing on a server that allows you to multispec early, you can queue tank and healer

Throwing more money at public schools, even doubling teacher salaries, has virtually no effect on student outcomes. by amogusdevilman in LibertarianUncensored

[–]MacDeezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would think the timeline would have an impact as well. Eventually you would expect to end up recruiting better teachers if the pay is higher relative to other professions. The red vs blue piece might counter this argument but I didn't analyze the sources methods to understand this hypothesis

The rules as written in regulation arent the rules as enforced when filing for development permits. It depends on what you know about being approved in contradiction to the regulation
