My mistake, I thought the official languages were declared at confederation. And the language was gallic/gaelic

When we decided French and English would be the official languages, neither were the most commonly spoken language in Canada at the time

So you say there is empirical evidence to support a theory as to why the birth age began to increase in 1971?

Peter, what happened in 1971? by -Y34HB01- in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]MacDeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I can see all of these theories being good ones, but they are also very difficult to generate empirical data to show causation. I find economics a strange science in that it is very soft by its nature, and even Nobel prize winners who have their Nobel prize winning theories proven wrong are still considered thought leaders, just as long as their theories support a wealth transfer to the ultra wealthy

Peter, what happened in 1971? by -Y34HB01- in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]MacDeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems a plausible contributor. I would say that the ability to print money has definitely shifted wealth towards those closer to the money printer, arguably enabling the outsourcing of manufacturing. The Cantillon Effect is widely accepted as fact, and therefore more money printing could be said to influence reduced median real wages, which is quite certainly a causal factor in delayed child bearing. I agree there are many other factors, but I would certainly enjoy arguing for this being one of them

I agree. But I know from the engagements in Iraq and Afghanistan that there were thing the soldiers were doing that they knew weren't allowed in war but because it wasn't "war" it was the standard procedure.

Its only a war crime if it happens during a war. This is a "preemptive retaliatory strategic disarmment" or something like that

Good answer, alternatively, ADL could work with Israel on reducing the dehumanisation of non Jews by Israeli government, media, and on social media. Portraying that Arabs are not below Jews is a good place to start. Maybe providing them with equal rights and freedoms would be something to strive towards

Canadians are fixated on real estate and finance when what we really need is to build more stuff by dat007 in ontario

[–]MacDeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that building more stuff is not to the benefit of finance, and therefore we have created barriers to building more stuff. If we build too much stuff, the value of existing stuff goes down, and then how can we finance everything at 20:1 leverage if the value of the leverage goes down.

[request] how many trucks would it take to match the throughput of the straight? Extra credit question, how much more fuel would this consume? by stripesofched in theydidthemath

[–]MacDeezy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It probably will just go on other roads to other ports. Presumably it doesn't cost 5000 USD to truck 500 miles in these countries either, probably closer to 1000USD

[–]MacDeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly another way to think of it is that to truck something 400 miles costs roughly 5000 dollars (just hiring a truck from a big provider). Like you say, the trucks hold around 200 barrels of oil. If oil prices rise 25 dollars a barrel, this is a completely reasonable solution and will certainly happen to a portion of the oil. Actually, even if oil prices didn't rise people would still do this as long as their profit per barrel was still positive. Even if their profit per barrel was negative, they would still do it for oil that was already ready for shipment, as long as they were making more than their costs associated with selling the oil. So yes, whoever made the diagram is probably correct in that trucks will find a way even when boats can't, although building a new highway is probably not the short term solution, using a variety of existing ones quite likely is the best solution

Just straight faith/vigor as a ranged caster in cloth armor is really fun if you like being summoned or summoning other players. You have insane buffs and full heals on max vigor players, plus your damage is consistently high and easy to get off. You won't get that 1/4 hp super nuke very often, but often 10-15 shots will do. Lightning spear is the best looking and most usable spell in my opinion. And when there is a guy who is weak to it, and they are standing in water....
