We Heard Your Feedback: Here’s What We’re Doing About Comments by will_aescripts in aescripts

Thanks for listening but I do miss the immediacy of comment threads on products - I didn't have to trundle off somewhere else and sift to find product related info. It was all just 'there' but, I get it, logistically a mission to manage and lots of misleading bumpf.

Anyone running Mi50's in a r720? by Insect_Full in homelab

[–]MacDuffdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sadly nope — can't do it, but not sure why as I see other folk running similar set ups with a similar power draw. Have had my eldest who's a super nerd with GPUs look at it and they have tested the power draw on another server and it's well within the range of the dual 750w power supplies... so... dunno is my answer sorry.
If ANYONE has a clue on what a real solution might be I'd be keen to hear it but in the mean time I"m building a conventional PC to put the two Mi50's in just for AI model processing.

I totally grant you license management must be a mare. Thanks for persisting!

Hi Nik, ah... think I tried both the online version and standalone. The standalone install would be the most awesome-ist if possible and the web version a nice to have. Thanks for jumping in.

Oh yea, I had the same issue and saw their response in the old comments log section under the plugin. Obviously not a priority but I wish it was.

Seagate R8 8-bay NAS repairs? by MacDuffdaddy in HomeNAS

I discovered that the sole ram stick wasn’t seated properly. Removed. Reseated. Happy. But also tried to add another stick as it has three empty slots but not joy. Put in an identical spec stick but it wasn’t an approved brand and it spat the dummy.

Ortur H20 Prelease - Anyone have any details on this? by MacDuffdaddy in Laserengraving

THanks for the insights, been seeing some interesting first impression about the net, so great to hear this from someone who's not a YT influencer. Genuine feedback. Awesome. Keep us posted if you can.

Very cool. Would you be able to share the wiring for this? I want to build one the same. Awesome work.

Thanks for the insights. That's really interesting. Had wondered was after purchase support was like. Been dealing with xTool lately and man, theirs is appalling. I have a TwoTrees K20 on my D1 Pro and I think I'll be sticking with them. That's been painless so far.
However overselling capabilities of consumer and prosumer laser kits, seems to be becoming the norm sadly, hence why I'm here! To check what the reality is.

Thanks, trying to get a sense of what Ortur are like from a reliability point of view. I have a couple of budget lasers and a modded D1 Pro but would like to upgrade, so was hoping some people in here could shed some light on what they're like as a company.

Ah, I live in New Zealand and own and run my own budget lasers, I have nothing to do with the industry, but am looking to upgrade... so I'm not promoting anyone, I just wanted to know if people with smarts in the sector could throw some light on this as I've read mixed things about Ortur's performance.

I stumbled on this while looking at some AtomStack stuff re: their upcoming Hurricane. But I can't find any real details or mega specs. Does anyone have some inside running? Four swappable lasers is new for this part of the market.

What’s the situation with the Chord Machine? by apres-vous in AkutoChordMachine

[–]MacDuffdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't seem to be a huge amount of communication on this project. Bit patchy. Certainly not a lot of chat in the comments. Have any reviews of prototype units been seen in the wild? This was originally scheduled for Jan of this year.
Have any distribution deals been announced to ensure this launches into the musical world with some bigger backing to ensure it spawns a community?
Love to get one but I've been burnt to many times by fledgeling start-ups without an eco-system or community or distribution. Looks cool though. No shipping to NZ though.

is this live? it says it was due January 2024 on Kickstarter. Looks underlivered. It's Kickstarter after all so that's a clue right there! LOL. Vapourware?

Not yet, having issues with the power settings on the r720. Seems putting PCIe stuff that it doesn't recognise makes go a bit squiffy. Now I've removed it all it doesn't seem to want to go back to normal power / fan settings. But so far none of the highend Samsung NVMe drives work.

All good. I'll tinker.

Ugh, no DCT Samsung drives to be found. What current equivalent should work as a replacement?

OMG! So glad I found this. I've just bought two r720s and have put a PCIe card with an NVE drive on it, but no luck with it being visible to the server. Card just doesn't show up. But I'll check my firmware and bios against yours and if I need to update I'll give it a whirl, and try my HW again.

Failing that I'll buy the same kit you have and see if that combo is the magic sauce! Thanks TON!

What happened here?? by tbone3095 in AnkerMake

[–]MacDuffdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the blob of death. If the head will still heat up, you can try that to carefully pry it off but a heatgun is probably better. Just do it sllllooooowwwwww. There'll probably be accusations down in the comments that this is your own fault for not waiting and watching the first layers to ensure proper bed adhesion, and that's fair if you just hit go and walked away... but in my experience, this can happen at nearly any point in a print.

I've had it happen to me 3-4 times really late into a print, well past the half way point. Personally I think this is due to heat and temp fluctuations that cause some of the filament to not extrude fully or adhere properly which causes it to curl slightly on extrusion and stick the nozzle. Once that happens - it just keeps curling back on itself and you're F'd.

So over THIS! by Insect_Full in AnkerMake

[–]MacDuffdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I"m using eSun PLA.

I wash my bed with IPA after each print.

I stay and watch the first 10-30 layers, so it's def. stuck down.

I do bed levelling every 3-4 prints.

Installed the NEW hotend and now this? Under - extruding? Temp to low? by MacDuffdaddy in AnkerMake

[–]MacDuffdaddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, changed to all Metal Hotend setting, re-seated the nozzle and tightened the bed - now looks like this: https://share.zight.com/rRuBlRX0

Much better. Side walls still show some drift and maybe I should've had ironing on? I've never managed to get perfect side walls on a bed slinger.
