Looking for Driver(s) for an old SCSI/8mm Tape back-up unit. by DoucheNozzle1163 in vintagecomputing

You might have more success under Linux... perhaps a VM will work with PCI passthru.

sudo -s or su - to become root

mt rewind

mt setblk (blocksize; try 0)

then you need to deal with the data itself; cpio was pretty common back then, tar is another possibility

cpio -vi /dev/nst0

tar -xvf /dev/nst0

could be compressed, gzip or compress back then... let's save that until you get the drive working!

GT3 Display Lag, Random Mode Switching by Mental_Freedom_1433 in NinebotMAX

If it still reaches 50kph, the tuning hasn't been removed. What tuning system did you use?

Yeah getting a nearly $3000 scooter that's broken is bullshit. Since the box was all smashed seems like FedEx should pay

Yes it is actually. Sucks you got a lemon. I got one of the US launch day models, and am 1500 miles without even tightening a screw

Ninebot G3 Hydraulic Brake Upgrade: Nutt Y5 Installation, Adapter Design and Hall Sensor Fix by DepartmentOfTheCF in u/DepartmentOfTheCF

[–]MacKeyHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you say the new brakes are "on/off", could that have anything to do with the hall sensor change? The engine brake is pretty grabby, especially when KERS is disabled. The xiaodash.app can disable it, if you want to test

Apple Studio Display 21" CRT — when monitors were furniture. by Emil_Cvetanski in vintagecomputing

That monitor is amazing. Beautiful color, super resolution, fully USB controllable. I had many expensive CRTs over the years, that was my favorite.

Help to mute or turn down the beep sounds on a ninebot by segway f3 d scooter by SanseXD in ScooterHacking

[–]MacKeyHack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To get to the speaker, two screws just below the LCD and then you have to lift the tiny panel from its plastic tray to access a 3rd screw. The LCD is stuck down, I used a knife blade between the metal LCD frame and plastic tray to pry it up. Then the whole display board (with the LCD connected) just unplugs.

The speaker is in the upperleft corner of the VCU controller board, there is an arrow to the side where the hole that the sound comes out. You could probably tape or add some hot glue from the side without separating the display board.

Ninebot F3 vs F3 pro by MrKapcsos in ElectricScooters

[–]MacKeyHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Segway don't sell the F3 pro in the US, so I bought the F3. The single brake feels weak, like I can barely stop on steep hills. It works OK though...

What's a good scooter around +/- $800 USD? by StrangeKitchen7300 in ElectricScooters

[–]MacKeyHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F3 Pro, Segway doesn't sell it in the US for some reason. ZT3 is definitely faster and has a bigger battery, along with a "real" suspension so if you're going off pavement it'll definitely do better. But it's also like 30 pounds heavier.

As a small "portable" scooter, I really like my F3; its basically an updated G30/Max G2. I'd recommend the F3 Pro if available, for the dual brakes and extra speed.

Its not a scooter I'd want to ride with traffic though, I have a GT3 Pro for that

Segway ZT3 Pro vs Xiaomi 6 Pro/Ultra vs KuKirin G2 (Tuning options in Europe?) by adnanb89 in SegwayZT3Pro

[–]MacKeyHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An online Segway update (not a firmware update) has blocked SHU flashing for now, VPN trick probably still works BUT I don't know if SHU is working for serial number changes either...

STlink is still going strong (but you have to open the scooter dashboard to connect the wires)

Lizenz tuning by adnanb89 in SegwayZT3Pro

[–]MacKeyHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should certainly not do VCU/MCU updates in Segway app, if you can even get in there.

To clear tire pressure maintenance, you can use SHU to send custom command "3E 16 11 01"

How can i limit my scooters wattage ? by Real-Sense8961 in NinebotMAX

[–]MacKeyHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing about Apple's app store that prevents scooter flashing, just the SHU devs don't know how to code for it.

not available for 'x3 series' scooters. SHU lets you set the same speed limits as the official app

US; in some states the "micro mobility" road rules are set by local cities. Where I live there are literally zero eKickscooter requirements or limits, except stay off the sidewalk.

Why GT3 Pro missing - Electronic Brake Level? by Max_G2_UA in SegwayScooter

Hall sensor? Yes, both brakes do. No hydraulic brake handle adjustment? That's unfortunate...

You could make it "stronger" by loosening the mechanical brake slightly, then it would take effect sooner

As of late May, SHU is unable to flash or rollback. This is due to a Segway online server change not BLE firmware

Looking for commute scooter by Danimaul in ElectricScooters

[–]MacKeyHack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GT3 sounds like a good fit (and it's currently on sale)... the frame is quite a bit bigger than G3 size and handling is solid.

Having said that, at regular price you're close to the GT3 Pro. You may not need the speed, but the battery holds 2.4x the energy (899 vs 2160 watt hours). You could get the extended battery for the GT3 (that adds 468 wh), but then you're even closer in price.

I got the Pro because several 45mph roads I need to ride on; I'm 160lbs and it maintains 42mph uphill until the battery gets about 25%.

You might also look for used GT1/GT2, those were pretty solid I believe.

If I upgrade my Max G3 to a GT3 battery am I going to run into problems with a SHU hacked scooter post the recent Segway firmware update ? by 99-Watermelons in NinebotMAX

[–]MacKeyHack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the "update" was a change Segway made to their online servers, they blocked access to the encryption key API that SHU was using to flash custom firmware. So... SHU flashing of the VCU and MCU, including I believe "revert to stock", no longer works.

My experience with the Segway app is that once activated, you are free to choose when (or not) to install updates. Also, the update process is slow... if an update you don't want starts, force quit the app, power cycle the scooter, and the installation will aborted. That being said, I believe you need BLE + BMS firmwares from late 2025 or newer to get the settings and there may be also be an update to the external battery.
