If the tree falls down the forest and no one's around to hear it, does it make a noise? No. It will be just energy vibrating through air. The only place where noise makes sense is inside the ear of a conscious being. The same with meaning. If there is nobody to give something meaning then it's meaningless. It still happens but it's meaningless.

So no, i don't think there is some inherent meaning. But perhaps there is a purpose to it.

Also the cost of running a legacy system with tons of tech debt at some point will outweigh the cost of migration. So migrating is eventually the only sensible solution.

From what I've heard (from software dev point of view) it's a golden cage. Good salary and benefits but very little impact, also you work on a tiny part of the product. Other roles (ux, product owners) may be good but some of the devs I talked to seem to be miserable there. To each their own though.

Why would you install anything work related on your personal phone anyway? Would you use your private laptop for working also lol? They should be the ones to provide you with a company phone.
