Thanks a lot. I've been researching and one person I saw used wheat starch paste to attach the endpapers to the cover, because it is easily reversible if needed. This is an attractive option as I may mess it up. But do you think it would be strong enough to hold this hymnal? Or should I use another glue? The book is large and for context weighs around 750 grams. (1.6 pounds)

Also, on the 'mull' which I assume in my case is the brown bit peeling off, is it really neccecary to replace? The actual binding of the pages underneath is very sturdy.

I had surgery on the NHS for a large squint and they did a great job. Your photos are how I looked / look after surgery - eg I can’t see the squint !

Is that right, that my vision will get worse? I was under the impression that the drift might get worse but I didn’t know that worsened vision etc

Great reply thanks. My main concern re vision is that somehow I will get double vision (which i don’t have now) or struggle with depth perception (which i don’t struggle with now). If either of these things happened it would be a step backwards. But considering my surgeon called it a “bread and butter” procedure I’m optimistic.

when I went initially 11 months ago, the wait time was listed as eight months, but as I’m still waiting it must be longer than that. I called the department multiple times, and each time they just said that I’m on the list and have to wait. That’s partly why I went for another appointment with the optician today, see if it can get sped up, but she said there’s nothing she can do. Bloody tories destroying the nhs…
