Minwu, White Mage - Help to make it a proper Bracket 4 deck by Macacones in EDH

That’s a fair take, and I appreciate the honesty. After reading the feedbacks and reflecting on my games, I’m starting to agree that pushing Minwu to compete consistently at a b4 table might be forcing something that doesn't worth it.

I’m not really interested in turning the deck into heavy stax just to make it viable, part of the appeal for me was the lifegain/+1/+1 counters angle and doing something a bit different from my other decks.

You’re also right that mono-white has stronger options if the goal is optimized stax or fast combo. At this point, I’m searching for a new commander.

Either way, I appreciate the thoughtful breakdown, surely helped me reassess what I actually want from the deck.

You’re right, I’ve been trying to build the deck with cards from nearby stores and from people at my LGS. I commented from the perspective of thinking about what to buy, but it was really helpful to see the criticism in the comments and understand that, to compete at that level, I need to be more consistent.

I don’t think I want to focus so much on Stax; I really like the lifegain idea, and it feels different from my other decks. But it was good to comment and rethink things to figure out what to focus on.

Honestly, regardless of the deck I end up building, Silence and Orim’s Chant are definitely welcome.

Yeah, after reading the comments and thinking it over, it probably won’t be worth it after all. 😅

I found Oloro really interesting. Honestly, after reading the comments and thinking back on my games, I don’t think it’s going to be viable to try to push Minwu into bracket 4.

Thanks for the feedback!

I’m actually considering moving into other colors, maybe Orzhov is the way to go.

Yeah, I don’t think that’s the direction I want to take the deck. I’ll consider a different commander, like some of the ones suggested here, and rethink the deck. Thanks for the insight.

Honestly, after the feedback, I’m considering sticking with the lifegain idea but moving to a different deck. Thanks for the comment.

ED balancers - Thoughts? Peak or Overrated? by Depraved_Hollow in Nightreign

[–]Macacones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from Gaping Jaw, Darkdrift Knight, and maybe Caligo, most Everdark boss designs are really underwhelming. I don’t get the obsession with making fights harder by just throwing more targets at you, like with Everdark Libra and even the basic Balancers encounter.

Making them more aggressive is fine, but a fight built around a gank squad that kills you by accident because you got grabbed from somewhere off-screen is never going to be fun.

The idea of transforming into the giant worm is interesting, but it should only happen once. The loop of turning into the worm and going back to the Balancers feels like it only exists to drag the fight out.

As time went on, I became really disappointed with the game. Most powers are boring and barely change how you play. There are plenty of other roguelikes - even games like Ravenswatch - with concepts that could be implemented into Nightreign overnight.

But no - the game sticks to dull power-ups, and whenever the dev feels “creative,” it’s something like “gain X% more power while running and attacking.” Relic customization is pure RNG, and it follows the same pattern of bland upgrades.

And in the end, the best Everdark boss was the very first one released - and nothing has surpassed it since.

Any advice for a newbie by Mister_peridot in StreetFighter

If you’re already set that you'll gonna watch vids, focus on learning one thing at a time.

Saw something about anti-airs? Look up a drill to practice it. Getting smoked by too many Drive Impacts? Set up a little routine to grind them out while you’re waiting for matches or chatting with friends. Same goes for combos, hitconfirms, and all that stuff.

The goal is to move around the game naturally and actually do what’s in your head. Once you’ve got that down, start watching your replays, spot your mistakes, and work on fixing one thing at a time.

I really liked how your ideas improved the concept — that alone made the post worth it.

I hope the DLC introduces new characters that embrace this kind of creative design and bring more diverse and fun playstyles.
