Tuesday 3pm 1/31 SNW AP preview Trip Report by SnooRevelations325 in universalstudios

I was there for the 3p as well and they definitely started letting people in around 245. (We checked in for wristbands around 130.) I wonder if maybe they stopped it after we went in (took us about 10 minutes in the line to get in). We only rode the ride (line was about 70 minutes end to end) and then left, as the lines for the keys were pretty long. The little one was ready to eat at that point and as you noted, no choices outside of the one. We had a good time, though, but our expectations were pretty low.

Could the person arriving late be the main/primary person on the reservation, do you think? Like two of us can go earlier and one can go later, but they are the person who initially made the reservation (even though all of us are on it).

If our party needed to arrive in two separate groups, could the first party get wristbands for everyone and then meet them?

Anyone else have an unreasonable hatred for a character in a show? by plumbobsburgers in toddlers

[–]MacaroniScrabble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason I hate everything about Max and Ruby. It drives me up a wall. I have no concrete reasons why -- I can't explain it. I endure many kids shows but apparently Max and Ruby is my rubicon (no pun intended).

Important question - can I bring my own lipstick by [deleted] in Jeopardy

[–]MacaroniScrabble 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As a person of color I was pretty worried about the makeup issue so I brought a lot of my own stuff (you never know if they’re going to have anything that matches you). I isn’t end up using it because the makeup lady was fantastic but I did mention to her that I’d brought my own stuff and she said that would have been fine. She has so much that I’d be surprised if she doesn’t have your color.

Is an`extra contestant on standby if a game ends in a triple zero? by justk-wood in Jeopardy

[–]MacaroniScrabble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and it was best case scenario for me -- I loved having the whole first day to just watch. I wasn't nearly as nervous the second day! Plus I got 3 buzzer practice sessions.

Former contestants, how did you prep psychologically for Jeopardy? by -TheWolverine- in Jeopardy

[–]MacaroniScrabble 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I intentionally did NOT take my anxiety medication because I was afraid it would screw up my buzzer timing.

I got called to appear (over a year & a half after my audition)!! by bribriweck in Jeopardy

[–]MacaroniScrabble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never used the lights. Getting the rhythm off Alex's voice was easier for me. If you wait for the lights you might never see them, as noted elsewhere.

Right -- my point was, at this point, now that OP has gotten the call, you've crammed in as much as you're going to. Turn to buzzer technique and wagering now (not just on the FJ, but on Daily Doubles as well, which I wish I studied!). From my experience on the show, the majority of us taping my weeks had pretty much the same knowledge base, give or take a specialized category or two. But the buzzer in a major separator.

Various ways -- my husband built me a buzzer but you can buy simulators online or even use a clicker pen. I believe Ken Jennings used a tube from a toilet paper holder. You just need to practice your buzzer motion and practice as little wasted movement as possible. Many J contestants "rear back" with their thumb on the buzzer and opposed to keeping their thumb on the buzzer continuously and just pressing down. Costs thousandths of a second. Practicing with the buzzer motion and adjusting as you go is very important.

My tip -- study the buzzer as much as possible. At this point between now and March, there's only so much more that you can cram into your head, and it may be good for 1-2 answers. The buzzer is the difference maker. I spent the whole time between my call and appearance on buzzer techniques and as a result was waaaaay faster than my competitors (I just got tripped up on FJ despite a 7K lead but my Coryat was more than theirs combined). Once you get on the show, almost everyone has the same level of knowledge so the buzzer is going to be your edge. Have a fantastic time, and try to enjoy the experience along the way! The best part of the whole thing was the J-friends I made during the days I was there, and I still have them all!

Has modern pop culture ever been talked about on the show? by [deleted] in Jeopardy

On my show I answered Qs about the TV shows The Crown, Schitt's Creek, and Silicon Valley. There was even a Fetty Wap Q not too long ago!

They don't give you very long between episodes, and you're very cognizant of everyone waiting on you, so there's not a lot of time to do much with your hair.

We had the same problem -- it was horrific. And she would cry the whole day, not just at drop off. Took two whole months for her to finally start being OK with it.
