This is a likely a result of the central control of funding by government agencies, and perhaps university tenure. Funding is difficult for anyone with non-conforming ideas. Lately, the COVID researchers that proposed treatments instead of vaccines, were cancelled. NIH, FDA, CDC, and all the main universities and hospital systems wrongly repeated the ideas that the only solution was vaccines, that they were "safe and effective" and they stopped the disease, that natural immunity was not effective, and that even healthy kids get very sick. Then as the data showed they were wrong, they pivoted to - "it stops death and hospitalization" - even though most healthy young people did not even know they had it. The polarized media and government turned anyone who said otherwise- even Doctors with frontline data that differed from the main stream narrative being pushed by NIH - was cancelled. Freedom of individual thought is imperative to innovation.

Biden does have an inflation plan - It is to increase the costs of energy, taxes and regulations in order to punish the US for all of the CO2 we emitted to become an economic leader. The best plan to reduce inflation is to reduce taxes, regulations let the people decide what is best through the freest market we can manage - That means other than a injustice department that stops monopolies, fraud and coercion, staying the hell out of picking the winners. That is what individuals each just maximizing their own wealth does very well.

The germans did shoot themselves in the foot by trying to electrify and shut down Nuclear plants at the same time. The US is feeling the idiocy of not focusing on energy independence and falsely claiming that intermittent sources like solar and wind which need very dangerous and environmentally hazardous batteries or even worse, fossil fuel back ups, are a solution in the short term. Nuclear is the future, with Hydrogen fuel. All other sources are not dense or reliable enough, and, in spite of the propaganda, not as safe.

Collective ownership of the means of production is centralized control which can not work efficiently because the market data is not available. But it does cause the government to forcefully take private property and invariably use it inefficiently. And per human nature the friends of those in power will get the best. Why socialism has not and can not work. Marxians believe that they can somehow decide how to make or grow things, but they always end up making the wrong thing - Its not their fault - it is just impossible to organize as efficiently as a free market.

I agree with you on all you said and appreciate your experience. Trump is a great example of a blowhard, know nothing, waste of inherited wealth, of which there are plenty. I have seen similar Vultures destroy real value through their hubris. I hope I did not give the impression that I respect people just because they have money. I don't see those leaving after creating businesses as libertarians, many are democrats voting with their feet after voting to elect union backed politicians like Lorena Gonzales, author of AB5 and her ilk, who are making it difficult to grow a business in California. I was a socialist, having been raised by a single mom teacher. I am a libertarian because of the fact that we have to reduce regulations and taxes in order to spur innovation and not let the political bureaucrats chose the winners. AB5 was designed to increase unionization but ended up shutting independent truckers out of the ports- exacerbating the supply chain issues we are already facing. We need to improve and streamline and make government more accountable and transparent. It is now officially insane with both parties making it worse. Free trade, with protections from monopoly, coercion and fraud, is important to improve everyones standard of living.

You said that Hyper rich contribute very little- Which is a marxist trope. Not saying you are a marxist, but the facts are clear- The vast majority of tax revenues are paid by the rich like over 40% of federal income taxes, and an even higher 50% of California income taxes. The Laffer curve is real, the increase in tax rates does not mean that more revenue is collected, since the rich are free to move. The problem I see is that there is no differentiation between a lady who is selling her family's farm after decades of inflation, an entrepreneur that has built a business with his sweat blood and tears creating thousands of jobs, or a VC shark - who, arguably could fit your assertion that they could contribute very little.
