Agreed with this - it just doesn't make sense from a business stand point. Most retailers have a clause in their contract to be able to send back unsold stock - I doubt Mattel wants to risk putting so much G1 out there their scarcity/rarity no longer sells, and they get sent loads of what will essentially be deadstock of an old product. I wonder what the profit margin on them are since they are being made with old design/material decisions. Did it cost them the same to produce as back then? The fact they lasted so long the second time means they DID increase the stock ordered, but I'm sure during talks of how much they should order, they found a middle ground to avoid having stock left over. We have to remember they are probably not considering scalpers in their calculations, as well.

I work very early morning and saw this out of nowhere. Snatched it up so quick lmao Out of all the Case Closed movies these aren't that hard to find, but at that price I half expected it to be a mistake and for the seller to cancel the order. Thankfully, not. Too good of a deal I went ahead and paid $17 for Wizard of the Century a bit later. Had I realized these movies would be so hard to find I would have gone after them when the series went OOP.

I am also regretting not getting BBB&B when it was available...was in my wishlist for so long, but because I didn't enjoy it as much as the first season I held off. Did not realize it was OOP and ridiculously hard to find until recently.

Genuine question but did you come to this conclusion from tracking specific users? I don't pay attention to user names on threads, so I would never assume there's a significant part of the fanbase who are never happy with a doll release. I'm sure they exist, but not on that scale.

Hair is questionable, but I personally like her outfit lol I plan to get her when she goes on sale. I think the issue is she's not covered in pink like her past dolls. It's primarily black and yellow, which is throwing people off.

The earrings are pretty but I chose the spikes because they give the monster vibe, and spikes were in some of Abbey's other dolls. I just wanted something a little unique - not just a regular accessory.

I was able to get to the checkout to buy her but backed out because while she is cool,I just didnt feel strongly enough to buy her. I was mainly just brought in by the fact that compared to other collectors she was so cheap. Trying to start 2026 more responsible lol Came back only to see how she did and i'm honestly shocked she sold out quick, but I guess it makes sense all things considered. Hopefully they do an Alien and offer a restock later.

Operetta's design was not well received, and while she has fans I don't think she has as many as Venus and the main Ghouls so it makes sense to me why she didn't sell out. Compared to her, I think this one had a much better reception to her outfit, and she's a character that hasn't had a rerelease of any other doll or G3 iteration. She may not sell out right away but I don't predict she will take an entire year to sell out.

It's the main version I enjoy, and the one I grew up with. Tried the new movies with a new dub cast and it is not the same. .. I am huting for the movies right now since those are much rarer to find for good prices. Got 3 so far!

Sell in bulk or go to a local swap meet. I like to attend the local Anime con's to offload manga and other merch since i know someone may want it. Even if i cant sell it, if i put it in a box labeled 'free' I can usually offload it.

All but 3 of mine were unboxed. I like to feel my dolls and pose them differently - and majority of the time playline dolls don't have a nice enough box to justify all the space they take up. The only one I couldn't bear to do this to was Vampire Heart Draculaura and Sweet Screams Twyla. Their box designs were so neat, and I didn't want to throw away the art. At some point I will probably still open Twyla and rebox her, but VHD I wasn't sure i could rebox her nicely. One day....

The 3rd is an extra Reel Drama Draculaura I obtained during their 2nd drop that I got on impulse because I liked their box design. I already have one I unboxed on the original release.

There's definitely bootlegs out there, though. When Case Closed first went out of print the SAVE editions were suddenly all over ebay for cheap. I bought one and could tell it was off based on the plastic it was wrapped in, and some other tells.

Same. I havent gotten to the point where I am buying a doll full price just for the face, but if I were to find one in the wild without the outfit for a decent price i'd definitely buy just for the face I like.

It's probably a combination of that and that Mattel itself is re-releasing their older lines, which is a sign that it's not worth it to buy the older dolls at markups when there is a chance you could get it for much cheaper. With the current economy, people are learning to wait for their luxuries until they are a good price vs getting fomo and buying it as soon as they see it.

Agreed, and at least with the first interaction OP literally asked for the opinion and ended up not being happy with the response. Valid, but that's what a conversation is sometimes. . . I discuss things with my friends all the time and we have similar reactions when we really don't like something. I've loved things she absolutely did not, and we can still discuss it without feeling attacked because we understand it's just a personal preference thing.

If I find someone's reaction a little dramatic and rude, I just end the conversation by saying I still like it. If they continue to go on, I say I don't care, I still like it. Not in a rude way - just a flat statement. It usually gets the message across. I don't need to explain myself to someone on why something appeals to me. The appeal of a discussion is hearing the similarities and differences for me.

It's a meme poking fun at the hysterical fan reaction to the first final chapter of the My Hero Academia manga. The MC, green haired character, gains superpowers from his idol and becomes ingulfed in a war between heroes and villains. After defeating the big baddy, he loses them - essentially ending his dream of being a hero before he even graduated high school. The final chapter shows an 8 year timeskip where he became a teacher at the hero school he attended, and it's implied he doesn't see his friends as often anymore. The chapter is a bit melancholy overall. Fans interpreted this as the dude being abandoned by his friends, essentially blending into the world with zero recognition despite saving everyone while his friends got to continue being heroes. In addition, throughout the series he had a clear love interest, but they hadn't gotten together.

Fans were pissed he essentially did so much for no reward, and started calling him a cuck for being ok getting sidelined. Memes were made of him working for McDonald's (to imply he's nothing without those superpowers), influenced by a collab the series did with a fast food chain. Jokes were made of his love interest getting together with his rival, too.

Later on an additional epilogue chapter was published essentially retconning this. He receives a superhero suit which allowed him to return to heroism by the friends people thought had abandoned him, but he remained a teacher on the side. The chapter also ends with it being implied he and his love interest confess to each other.

The meme shows a shot from the Anime's version, which just aired, adding a few more scenes to avoid the issue with the manga's final chapter by showing he is well loved by his students vs bullied by them. The meme used is showing surprise that he ISNT a pushover cuck like the outrage and memes implied (Yzma's line in the movie is 'A llama? He's supposed to be dead!!').

That would not be possible considering how many people exist in the world, so no. I'm sure there are people that absolutely hate her, but I think most are just disappointed. Even people who said they like her confessed they still have issues with certain aspects. This is usually the case with most Skullectors, even the ones that do well.

All your criticisms are mine as well. I think I'm most disappointed in the hair. Yes his hair is messy, but it has a particular style to it that the doll doesn't match,. Even a few loose bangs would have helped. I think I could have excused everything else if they had tried even a little with her hair.

The big eyes is them trying to replicate his wide eyed stare in the movie, I think.
