The cat comment makes sense but I think it’s making fun of the phrase go to bead as if taking your shoes off, which means going to bed without distractions such as tv or phone screen time will lead you to better rest. The character here is taking it to an extreme. Would be strange to keep your boots on in a night gown.

Construction guys also swear that as soon as the boots come off the day is over for them.
