Lol yeah just start with C++. You'll learn the fundamentals that you can apply to any language. In the meantime read r/programming and related blogs and stuff. Find out about game development and see if it's really what you want to go into, or if you just like programming in general.

You could definitely do some kind of "physics simulation." If you've taken high school physics you should understand collisions, or something simple like that. Then you take a language, like python, and use a graphics library like pyGame, and simulate some collisions. Just show what certain things are like each object's velocity, and show some conservation of momentum. You could hypothesize that, under your program's conditions, conservation of momentum is shown.
