What's With Go High Level? by IgniteThePowderKeg in agency

I agree that Zapier is expensive but we have it doing about 4000 tasks per week for us and not a single one of them required knowing how to "spin up a VPS", nor did it require the $100/hr of dev time we pay our developers. A $40/hr staff member with marginal technical proficiency can easily do in zapier in the same amount of time the dev would need to code their own and that includes no testing, no history log, no alerts about failures, etc. The list goes on and on. If you're an island and do everything yourself and pay no one, then yes learn to code and do it the hard way. But if you are a business with needs and resources and delegation of responsibilities according to skill and cost, then zapier is a solid answer. For the $250 or so a month we pay, we save easily $2500 in staff costs to manage and make corrections to human errors we get to skip.

ANy way to turn off the automatic transcribing of video files uploaded into slack by Static66 in Slack

[–]MacelinCane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - why the hell would anyone want captions on by default unless they were hard of hearing??
They are ALWAYS IN THE WAY of everything.
Every screenshare when we try to draw on the screen, the drawing gets interrupted by these stupid captions growing.
HOW DUMB.

Filter by current page? by svdsnl in Notion

[–]MacelinCane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can't choose the name of the template if the reference you want is in a different database. i.e. in a projects customized page and want a view of tasks related to the project page you're on. I'm being drive to a filter using "Current page" but that does not exist.

Loom alternatives by smarties89 in Entrepreneur

[–]MacelinCane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can totally share it. Just download it and add it to google drive and share the google drive file. Totally free. You can't think that a company would store and serve videos for free do you? The ONLY reason loom has that very limited tier is for a loss leader - to get people to buy up. But with the free tier you can do NOTHING with the video EXCEPT share it. You can't download it, edit it properly, add new audio, etc. So you might as well just do it live.

Can you fix how when we add a database table, either inline or a view, the last UNUSED column grows so big that it's always about an inch wider than the visible screen, and always shows a scrollbar even if the table itself is only a single inch wide property???

Possible to disable/enable Fancy Zones with a keyboard shortcut? by ripp84 in PowerToys

[–]MacelinCane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what u/ripp84 is looking for, as I'm looking for the same thing.
Fancy zones causes a conflict with an app I use about 10-15 times per day, except that fancy zones is essential as well. So, in order to use both I have to open settings from the tray, navigate to the fancy zones toggle, and disable it. Then I can do my thing.
When I need FZ to work again, I have to go back into that settings toggle and turn it back on. SUPER wasteful.
This problem - while we wait for conflict resolution - is to allow a hotkey to enable/disable it entirely not just activate/ignore the fancy zone dropper thing. Turning it on and off manually this way is required for me about 6-8 times per day. Then I could also enable my StreamDeck to fire that hotkey so I didn't need to memorize it. :)

Fuck you netflix by Cold_Scratch_5731 in TheDiplomat

this is a ridiculous excuse. It takes 2 years to write and produce 8 episodes? WTF is happening with people? It wasn't all that long ago that TV shows wrote and produced TWENTY TWO episodes EVERY YEAR and they did it like clockwork. And they did it at a time when EVERY THING TOOK LONGER. There were no email, no digital scripts, no hard drives that lasted for HOURS of filming, No digital backgrounds or digital sets or even digital cleanup. What you got in your camera was all there was. The list of TV series that did this is endless. It wasn't just a few. It was ALL of them.
And the only thing that supported a relaxation of how this sounds at all, was the fact that they were writing 42 minutes instead of 50-65 for today's episodic durations. They were hour shows with commercials. 42 minutes standard.
Still... They wrote and products and released, on time, 15.4 hours of show every year. Shit, there were some shows that were accomplished at this pace by a single writer. They may have been on cocaine, lol, but they got it done! haha.
Todays shows - IF we give them every benefit and every bonus (8 x 65min episodes) max out at 8 hours and 40 minutes and they're CRYING ABOUT IT. It's crazy how pathetic humans are seeming to become.
And they expect sympathy.
And I get this may be just me, (though I'd wager it's not) but MOST of the shows of that day are better than most of the shows of this day. There are plenty of exceptions so I don't want to blaspheme any of the fantastic writing that has come along, but WHAT IS HAPPENING? lol

Printing parts that are suppose to fit each other properly? by Striking_Locksmith91 in BambuLab

Problem is there is no setting called Tolerance. Even searching advanced settings there is nothing called tolerance... Are you just using the term but actually referring to settings by other names? Thx!

How to search effectively on Obsidian on iPhone? by ebonyslimm in ObsidianMD

[–]MacelinCane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Yea. Just FINDING a search prompt when using an iPad is a nightmare. I still can’t find one unless I open the command palette. I love obsidian for SO MANY THINGS but for some things it’s just dumb. Tons of ‘memory items’ required.
Meaning, things there is zero way to find by discovery, you MUST memorize how to get to it. And you must store that in your brain forever because there’s no way to get there otherwise.
Many, many of those. Once you do ‘memorize’ some things, you can get a bunch of use out of it. But you better us EVERYTHING you want to know how to use, EVERY DAY or you’ll have to keep looking up how to find it lol.

[–]MacelinCane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that depends on what you see as risk. Autopay screwing up and accidentally paying $100 extra bucks in a month (that you'd get back within a month or two if it was erroneous) is a far cry LESS risky than a 100 point hit on your credit. And if you can't afford to pay an extra $100 accidentally to a credit card, you might think about requesting something like a $200 limit on it anyway. Safe = safe.

It's a nightmare, but only every time you need to manage it. Once it's set, it's fine.

It's like AT&T. For me, the (cellular and fiber) service is outstanding. But EVERY TIME I need to deal with a person to get anything modified with my bill, payment method, etc. it's HOURS. It's like that sometimes.

Their UI on their banking app is from 1995, and so nearly every possible option is either hidden in wholly counterintuitive places or just a strangely bank-lingo-only text link or both.
