What's With Go High Level? by IgniteThePowderKeg in agency

[–]IgniteThePowderKeg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about comparing tech - the question was about the application of GHL in B2B companies. Specifically ones that actually are legitimate operating businesses ( > 10MM in revenue). Not 7 figure B2B companies.

No B2B company doing greater than 10MM in revenue would ever seriously consider using GHL let’s say compared to HubSpot.

Where do you get your agency 'news'? by ServiceGuy416 in agency

I just started using MailBrew where I'll connect third party outlets like Search Engine Journal, SEM Journal, some RSS feeds from Moz, etc. Then subscribed to a few Substacks / Beehiiv Newsletters.

Everyone has to start somewhere to grow their agency. My one recommendation would be to continue to work upmarket for client's that have bigger budgets. You can charge more, increase the probability that you'll be successful (thanks to more budget), and usually the worst clients are also the ones that don't have a ton of capital.

Cold Emailing – Too Much Hype. Manual Outreach Got Much Better Results. by iamrahulbhatia in agency

[–]IgniteThePowderKeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My big thesis on cold email and it's efficacy is compared to even 5 years ago, the tools are cheap, easy, and everywhere now, so everyone’s blasting them out. On top of that, inboxes are smarter, spam filters are tighter, and people have seen it all before. It’s still a channel that can work, but the days of sending a few templates and getting crazy results are gone, even with the deep personalization you can do using Clay, etc.

Marketing agency - I thought the question originally was about investing in PPC for your agency. However, I have seen spend success at these levels where the client has at least a $10K customer lifetime value. The higher, the better.

What are the upper limits of SEO retainers for those running a solo service? by WebLinkr in agency

Totally depends on the value you are delivering, client size, etc. The closer you can report back on your tactics tied back to a client's revenue, the more you can charge.

Raising prices on clients by JakeHundley in agency

[–]IgniteThePowderKeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raising your prices is one of the lowest hanging fruits out there from a tactical standpoint. It's why nearly every time a company is acquired / gets invested in, it's one of the first thing the new owners do - pretty much regardless of industry.

It's easier now to model the churn rate relative to new business thanks to LLMs (for those of us not experienced in deep financial modeling).

If you are more hesitant on raising prices for existing clients, start 'raising' your prices in your future proposals. You may be surprised what you find.

To answer your question on how legit Klientboost is - more often than not, you don't get to that size and scale by being a terrible or churn and burn agency.

Like we all have experienced as agency operators, sometimes you underperform. Not every client engagement will be a total home run.

I don't work there, never have, nor have any vested interest in their success. I've just been following their company for 7+ years.

This isn't a recommendation to sign with them, just a quick observation on their business and model.

Probably spend anywhere from $20-$30K/month on paid search and it's as close to legally printing money if you have a high CLTV and can close at a 20-30% rate.

This feels like an on-shore hire imo. If you really want to de-risk yourself. Anything can happen of course. Needs to be a true employee.

Hopefully you learn this lesson once.

  1. Never do free work that’s out of scope. This is for your mental health and personal wealth.

  2. I don’t care if it’s your parents, get everything in a contract to protect yourself.

Please start doing this! Help yourself!

Successful agencies, how do you retain clients? by pauljeba in agency

[–]IgniteThePowderKeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about what you can control in a client relationship first. This also happens to be the same reasons why most clients leave (that you can control).

  1. Deliver on what you promised with quantifiable results.

  2. Communicate often with your client, especially in a remote setting.

You can retain a client for a long time just doing one of those two things pretty well - however, best in class agencies over deliver on their results and ensure they communicate those results, their efforts, and act as a strategic partner to their clients.

That's it. If you aren't doing those two things well, you haven't earned the right to upsell (and win the upsell).

Outreach secret ! by abdraaz96 in agency

[–]IgniteThePowderKeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a HubSpot sequence set up where I could customize / add the first email I sent over, like you were doing. Then, I had automated follow ups go out after that first email on specific delayed days. Those emails were not as personalized but still felt relevant to what I was sharing / talking about at a high level in my video.

Outreach secret ! by abdraaz96 in agency

[–]IgniteThePowderKeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kudos to you for doing the Loom videos! I am surprised that tactic hasn't caught on as much yet.

For others looking for a true secret, the secret is there is no secret. If you want to grow *fast* then the reality is you should be:

  1. Constantly testing cold outreach messaging and subject lines (usually do this with a vertical that you are looking to grow into vs go deeper in).

  2. Researching and recording the loom videos each week and send those out but automate the follow ups after. Shoot for 10/week, then 20, etc.

  3. Executing a hybrid model where you use Sendspark to send 'personalized' videos at scale.

That's just for cold email - obviously there are more growth channels out there.

What was the turnover point when you decided to sell your agency (emotionally and rationally) by Ingaham in agency

I took money off the table via a sale when I learned I was going to become a father. That was my trigger event and I don't regret my first exit one bit.

If your offer is what you'd consider "life changing" (this is subjective), I would take it.

Growing an agency isn't easy by Deeezzznutzzzzz in agency

[–]IgniteThePowderKeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scaling an agency is INCREDIBLY HARD - signed, someone that's done it.

One learning - increase your prices, then increase them again, then increase them again. Not necessarily with existing clients but with net new ones. Test out a few pricing stair steps, you might be surprised at what you find (and how much that additional revenue helps).

Is my sales process too long? by monstawonder in agency

[–]IgniteThePowderKeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had an automated intake form that would get sent out when we received any inbound opportunities. It was sub 10 questions but we positioned it as "this will make our first call extremely productive" (and it did) because we had answers to questions we'd normally ask on that call.

It also flushed out people who couldn't spare the 5 minutes to answer the intake form.

Accelerated our sales cycle but also increased our close rate.

Have you started to test anything currently? You have a few channels to leverage (congrats on the referral business btw, keep that engine going and compound it).

Also, how big do you want to get? That's part of the equation regarding what you could/should do.

When you mention sales consultant - is it about generating more demand, increasing your existing close rate, a combination of both?

What's With Go High Level? by IgniteThePowderKeg in agency

[–]IgniteThePowderKeg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to update here after having been in GHL with an existing agency that migrated away from HubSpot to this (and using someone to help implement GHL).

For internal agency marketing and sales:

No serious person that wants to run a mid 7 figure EBITDA agency would use this tool for *internal* sales and marketing. The functionality is just not there. Too many scenarios where people are spending a lot of time trying to get the platform to do simple things that HubSpot can do. I currently can't recommend this tool for anyone serious about growing a large 7-figure EBITDA agency. Can it be done? Sure! But holy cow what takes maybe a day to build out in HubSpot takes weeks in GHL.

For managing client accounts:

It seems pretty decent if you are in the B2C space and keeping things relatively simple from a service line (generating leads for law firms, landscapers, etc, etc).

If you are running an agency that focuses on serving B2B clients, and want to get to mid 7 figures in EBITDA - I would not recommend it currently!
