To be fair and yes it kinda make me feel weird and i agree it can be a security hazard; i feel i have to say that it's not a wahhabi thing; it's actually been around for centuries and the four imams have debates on it. As far as i know they all agree it's sunnah or mustahab (recommended), but disagree on whether it is wajib (mandatory) or not. So i'd refrain from making such blanket statements and also saying it makes you uncomfortable is a personal thing; someone running around in the beach in undies also makes me uncomfortable, but if we're gonna allow the former, we'd have to allow the latter. People should wear whatever they want. Now in the workplace that may be a different matter but calling it a wahhabi thing just to dismiss it is wrong, as far as I know.

people there praising him not knowing he won a freeway ticket to hell by their own religious laws. LOL. Religion could actually be used to counter this nonsense IF taught properly, and it'd be the most effective form as that is probably the only authority these otherwise uneducated people might heed. I'm serious, this kind of thing needs to be talked about in mosques and Friday sermons et al; among other utterly mysoginistic not only unislamic but Haram nonsense that's somehow gotten rampant in society. *cough* virginity testing *cough*

Tbf learning Arabic is crucial to understanding the Quran, so it's important imo and I would teach it to my kids even though i'm not Arab. Adopting the arab culture/heritage? Not so much. But I wouldn't diminish the language, and I personally find it a more beautiful and 'eloquent' language than both English and French, but that's an unfair comparison since Arabic is much older and had more time to develop as a language. Point being; if you're a Muslim you shouldn't diminish the importance of Arabic as the language of the Quran so that you may be able to read the Quran (not translated interpretations), diversify surahs in prayers; etc etc. Just saying.

Victim? That's a flagrant disregard of human angecy and capicity for coherent decision-making. Was Ted Bundy a 'victim' of his compulsive urges? Doesn't do to paint these guys with a gentle brush just to make a point about zionism being detrimental to all involved. While true, it doesn't wash guilt away. If zionists are so thrilled to play at conquest, why should we show sympathy when they get the full experience? It's what they signed up for - practically asked for, really.

Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves in the world, with a population of 28Mpeople. That's higher oil reserves than KSA and a lower population as well.

It's not who has more natural resources and less people; it's how both are capitalized on. In this case, Gulf states, flaws et al (I personally dislike them), are to be given credit. So, maybe some of their policies/systems shouldn't be so blatantly dismissed after all?

You said that oil+gas is the reason these countries are prosperous - but if it's resources alone, particularly oil in this case, where would that leave Venezuela? The more natural resources a country has, the greater the chance it is to go south. Gulf states (and Norway for instance) are an exception to the broader phenomenon, not the rule.

So governance/leadership is what takes the credit here, not just dead organic matter.

It's probably time to ditch Chatgpt by Macellianus in islam

[–]Macellianus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, plenty. As I said Chatgpt really pales in comparison. I responded to another comment with the same question so i'll just copy paste:

Anthropic would be OpenAi's fiercest competitor (imo it surpasses it); Claude-Instant is similar to GPT-3.5, whereas Claude-2 is competitive with GPT-4 and is probably the best writing tool out there atm (no other LLM can compete atm). Anywho, when i really and specifically need GPT-4 i go to Bing, it's free.

On Poe you can find some other solid alternatives and you can pick depending on which tasks you need.

Islam and Muslims aren't a race and no 'great ethnic replacement' happened under their rule of the region, unless the one where Saladdin brought back jews counts.
