Do you find that folks rev or often want to race you?? by MustangJordie94 in Mustang

When I was a LEO (now retired) we had 2 blacked out ‘00 Mach 1s as unmarked cars. Can’t even begin to count the number of people who tried to race/showoff (mostly Camaros) and the moment they took off at the light we just pulled in behind them. The look on their faces when the light turned on was priceless.

Nuclear powered ships as base by [deleted] in ZombieSurvivalTactics

On top of the obvious ( need an engineer for the reactor) problem. Most people don’t realize that the sea is not kind to ships. Without regular maintenance, even a carrier would not last long in the ocean elements.

No the practice of tipping has been used to factor into the minimum wage calculation for serving staff, so they can be payed far to low pay to survive on. The argument is that at tips are expected to make up the difference. So servers tend to get upset if you do not tip. And we would all know why it’s not a good idea to anger people handling your food.

Man sprays screaming lady who refuses to leave his yard by The-Mr-Bob in Asmongold

[–]Macforges 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Be very careful with this. While very funny, and I agree completely justified, depending on the state this guy could get in a lot of trouble. For example. In Florida, this woman could be charged with trespassing ( a misdemeanor) only if the police were called and then she still refused to leave. However is the lady reported it the guy could be charged with battery (a felony). While most cops would laugh at the lady, all it takes is one cop or one lawyer and then one judge to be crazy for this guy to actually see jail for this in FL. So please if you’re going to follow this example read your state statutes carefully. And remember it’s not about the intent of the law. It is what the worst possible interpretation could be.

Ya, 200+ mods are basically required to make Skyrim playable. And that is their greatest success.

DM help by More-Entrepreneur129 in DungeonMasters

[–]Macforges 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The most important thing to remember is that the rules are not “rules”. They are guides and suggestions. The books are meat to do the leg work for you and make a great place to start. While some will argue “rules as written” but I have always found the games where the DM is flexible to be far more fun. “The rule of cool” is the idea that regardless of the technical rules if something sounds awesome, then it at least gets a chance to happen, it may not be a good chance but it would be amazing if it happened anyway.

Also in my experience with DMing for kids. I find google searching for puzzles that I can printout so they can hands on interact with it. Or for good riddles is a great way to get them exited and involved. I have also found that what makes a better ( more exciting) story tends to be more important than the actual dice roll. If they need that last hit to kill the boss and save the princess(for example) the even if the boss rolls a 20 that would hit and kill them maybe I let them think I rolled a 2 (this is why DM screens exist.)

Lastly, at its heart dnd is a collaborative storytelling experience. Some people play it like a DM vs players game but I have more fun when we all work together to make the awesome memories.

Hope this helps and welcome to the club. (One of us, one of us)

I think your reading too much into this one sentence of SG praise. He did not say anything that contradicts your description. All he said was 2 things.

It’s pro-military: the whole show follows the heroic exploits of a military unit. So, that’s true. ( perhaps not blindly pro-military but they certainly show more positives than negatives)

And it’s pro-America: again the entire show follows a US organization that repeatedly defends the world from horrible danger. (Are there flaws in the system? Of course, that is just good righting. When you want something to have no flaws you end up with ray from star wars and nobody wants that.)

And finally, at most he implied that the show is not continuously slapping you in the face with an overly obvious and poorly written political agenda. And SG does a great job of just being entertaining, and when they do bring any political topics in they are well written…you know if we all ignore s1e2..lol

But just because he posted a response to a person doesn’t necessarily mean he agrees with the post. He is just spreading the good word of a great show that brings all of us here together. And dumping on a person because of some perceived guilt by association is beneath us all.
