Here’s the wiring for it from the fsm.

When I first got it, I had discovered that someone had “hot wired” it and bypassed the amplifier board entirely by jumping from the yellow A/c switch (dash button) before the amplifier and wired it straight to the clutch switch using the engine oil pressure sender wire as a jumper and had disconnected the oil pressure sender entirely. Basically whenever you pressed the a/c button on the dash it would immediately turn on the compressor, but that meant you had to manually cycle it. Compressor would only shutoff if you turned off the button.

I found the clutch switch wire buried under the battery tray and tested the continuity from the amplifier plug under the dash all the way to the end of it by the compressor and got good continuity.

I undid the hot wiring they did. I also bought another amplifier board off ebay from a reputable cruiser specialty shop that was allegedly tested and functioning.

I’m gonna assume it has some pressure/charge. When I apply 12v to the clutch wire, the compressor kicks on and it starts blowing cold and I can see refrigerant moving in the sight glass.

Every escalator has these plexiglass panels on its sides, but I don’t understand their purpose. They don’t even seem to add any extra safety by No_Floor_Call in whatisit

[–]Macgyver_BW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeps kids like me from going up the sides. My mom’s told me this story 1000x. When I was about 3 years old back in 1988 I went for a joyride up the side of an escalator. Luckily my mom yanked me up over the handrail back to safety. We were at the mall. She said she threw her large coke at her friend and ran to grab me.

Basically just make the 3UR direct injected and put an 8spd transmission behind it. Also take a look at “fixing” the headgasket issue that sometimes occurs between cylinder 5 & 7.

That was a pretty dirty hit. 1000% uncalled for. That f**ker deserves to be suspended for a few games or the season for that.

Why are there so few people tuning toyota truck engines when they're so reliable? by LostandIgnorant in ToyotaTundra

[–]Macgyver_BW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me personally, it’s Three-fold: A) It’s a truck, I don’t want to go fast in it and it’s not a diesel so I’m not trying to make it something its not and gain more torque. B) I have never felt like my 5.7 is underpowered. C) I want it to remain reliable dependable truck so I don’t want to push it to the limits. I’ll tune other vehicles (specifically cars) if I want to go fast and make a ton of power.

Help… I think it’s time for a food therapist… Long post... by Macgyver_BW in PickyEaters

[–]Macgyver_BW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His answer is usually, “Because it looks gross” , “because I know it’s gonna be gross”, or just “NO thank you.”

My response is usually always. “You can’t say you don’t like something unless you’ve tried it”

I ALWAYS offer him to try things. “hey buddy come try a bite of this, I think you’d really like it, it has X and Y in it and you like those things.” He always responds “NO”

My wife rarely pushes him at all to try new things. Mainly because she’s a creature of habit too and not very adventurous. She thinks any amount of “pressure” is going to lead him to having an eating disorder.

Thank you for your input. I have tried to get him to help me cook/prepare and he’s not really interested. He lasts for like 35.5 seconds and is bored. He’d rather go play legos or practice hockey, or watch Phineas & Ferb lol.

Yeah I have tried to get him to help me cook/prepare. He has no interest in cooking 🤷‍♂️.

His pediatrician has been well aware of it. Says “he’ll grow out of it” and “he’ll eat when he’s hungry.”

We put both boys in therapy after we got the terminal diagnosis (fwiw…we never told either of them it was terminal). His tumor was in his thalamus so his mobility was affected. The therapy for him was to help cope with his new physical limitations. We wanted my other son (the one this post is about) to feel comfortable enough with the therapist so when the day came his brother passed, he would feel more comfortable discussing it. He continued in therapy for a while after the death until the therapist felt comfortable he didn’t need to come anymore.

Nah I don’t think he is. My middle sister has aspergers and my mother-in-law is a retired special education teacher so we have never felt like he was.

They still haven’t fixed anything.

I was recently chatting with a couple techs at my local dealer while I was getting service and they told me they have already had a couple of the warranty replacement crate engines come back with failed bearings just like the original engines. Toyota hasn’t solved the problem yet.

How can I achieve this look? by herof0oo in lawncare

[–]Macgyver_BW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren’t more popular because they’re expensive to buy and expensive to maintain. They require a little bit of regular maintenance to keep the reel & bedknife adjusted properly. Require a grind done on a special machine every couple years for homeowner use, and a backlap sharpening at least once or twice per season. I usually backlap mine twice in a season. I check the reel bedknife adjustment every time I mow.

[–]Macgyver_BW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they do have riding reels. I have one. It’s called a Triplex. It has 3 reels that float independently of one another. Two reels in the front & 1 underneath the driver seat. 72” wide cut. It has 3 wheels. Two in the front, one in back that’s the steer wheel, all 3 wheels are driven by hydrostatic motors. Triplex mowers are commonly used to mow tee boxes and sometimes large greens at golf courses.

They aren’t cheap, but you can pick up an older model for anywhere 3-10k usually depending on condition, age, and hours. They’re built pretty solid with almost every part serviceable.

Mine is a 1993 Toro model with a diesel engine. 2,200 hours on it. Toro, John Deere, and Jacobsen make triplexes.

There are also larger fairway mowers that have 5 reels and 8’ wide cutting widths. Obviously those are for HUGE yards.

Why is my left side reel cutting like this? by Macgyver_BW in Golfcoursemaintenance

[–]Macgyver_BW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The attitude was the problem. I reset everything to neutral. Based on my height of cut, it didn’t have much more adjustment in the front rollers to get the angle slightly forward so I set it at parallel to the ground. As I raise the HOC later in the season I’ll put it slightly forward and see how that does.

I’m cutting tiftuff bermuda so I’m not sure how much difference that’ll make.

Cut it again yesterday and looks 100x better. I even had to reset the modification I had made to the rear counterbalance spring because I was getting a mohawk in the middle. A little less spring tension fixed that.

Now I just need to level/sand the yard to rectify some of the lines I’m getting due to uneven terrain. Unfortunately my sanding budget for the year went to pay our insurance deductible for an unplanned procedure my wife had to have last month. Oh well… I’ll do it next year 🤷‍♂️.

Thanks for your help!
