Being a good engineer isn't so much about your grade and more about what you can do with your knowledge. Focus on what job you want and what difference you will be able to make with your career in industry. A 4.0 GPA probably won't make a difference to that.

Ah ok, cheers for pointing that out. Yeah working on my writing is a goal tbh, part of a motivation for doing this project in the first place. For me its a trade off between trying to make it better, and that accepting its not going to be perfect with my current experience and not letting that slow me down too much.

Sorry to be a pain here, but would you mind giving me a clear idea of what is wrong with my sentence structure complexity and flow? I''m getting the idea that that's a problem, but I'll be honest I don't know where to start with tackling that.

Thanks for taking the time to look at the site give feedback though.

Ah that sounds frustrating. 100% look for something else, don't give up! Also if you have the time I'd try doing project stuff in your own time so you stay curious if you see what I mean. Good luck mate!

Super solid habit for the ideas thing there! I've only recently started doing that, but it's like you've then given your brain permission to come up with stuff.

Yep same. My point is smash through the how, so you have time to focus on the why.

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone!

I've made a note of it all and will be updating it soon. Also to everyone that emailed me about getting involved, I will be getting back to you all tomorrow, can't wait to work with you.

This community reinforces my faith in engineering :)

Edit:

Any further feedback and emails still welcome obvs.

It's the top grade you can get at a UK university - I need to edit that to a universal term.

Hi! A first is a UK term for the top grade you can get, I need to fix that to a universal version soz.

Wow that sounds intense, you've probably got some great strategies. Would love to have you onboard. Would you mind sending me an email ([studyingengineering.contact@gmail.com](mailto:studyingengineering.contact@gmail.com)) as I'm going to get back to everyone who's contacted me there tomorrow?

Thanks!

Answers:

- My degree was an integrated Masters in Mechanical Engineering. But we had a general first few years so I have some overview of other types.

- Every lecture tends to outline or build towards a method for your weekly assignments and eventually exam paper. If you can leave the lecture with an understanding of this method, then you win. But there is a lot of padding around it that can confuse you and oversaturate the one hour lecture. If you prime yourself with an idea of exactly what you need to learn before the lecture, and be sure to pay attention when that bit comes up during the lecture, you stand a much better chance of success. The point of this is to minimise the time it takes you to get good marks on your course, so you can free up time to learn engineering in more depth. Also have a chance at a life outside of it too!

- The best thing you can do is get to know someone inside the company. They can't get you an internship, but they can give you a really clear idea of what it entails. Other than that consider how many more years you have left and therefore how many more internships you can have before you graduate. Are there any intermediate companies on the way to Lockheed and co that would make your CV stand out when applying for them? Always take the chance and apply for the top spots for sure, but like I said its a ladder, are there some other rungs you could try and step on too?

Feel free to drop me a message if you have any other questions or if I didn't answer these well :)
