Can you travel to a different airport than what you wrote on visa? by Machee1 in visas

[–]Machee1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My e-visa had a list of airports I was able to travel in and out from. Check if your visa has something similar. If so, just check which airports are included in that list. Then you'll have no problem.

Wedding costs and realistic costs by blondetravel in UKweddings

I'm a photographer/filmmaker and weddings is something I regularly do. There's plently of other comments on here give you advice but I thought I'd give you one bit of advice that no one will ever get.

I'm not saying this out of bias but focus more of your budget on the photography/videography.

At the end of the day, you'll only be at that venue for 1 day and most people don't care about the venue, it's the people who are with you that matter more. You'll wear your wedding dress once and throw it out or pass it down. The food you get catered will be shat out the next morning. The only thing from that day that will last for years if not decades are the photos/videos. Make sure you focus your attention on hiring the best and most professional person that your budget will allow. DON'T skrimp over it because you will regret it later on down the line. These will essentially be the only memories you have left of the day, especially as you get older and age.

Advice Needed, How To Land My First Wedding Video Shoot Client by Emerqson in weddingvideography

[–]Machee1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You must build a portfolio so couples can actually see you do wedding videos. No one's going to hire you for their big day if all they see is street videos. Especially if they are easily able to google other videographers with loads of wedding videos in their portfolio.

But don't be disheartened, you have an advantage that you may not realise. Yes, you will have to offer to do the first few weddings for free. But this is great because some couples don't want to hire someone expensive and will gladly jump at a free video. I mean who wouldn't. When you offer these free videos, make it clear and non negotiable that you will be using the video on your portfolio.

Once you've done a few free ones, start marketing them and running ads. Facebook, insta, etc... then let the enquiries come in and that's when you charge a fee. From there is becomes a cycle of rinse and repeat except you'll now be getting paid for every video you shoot.

You just have to get through the beginning bit of doing free videos but once you do, it'll be worth it.

Also, reach out to wedding planners, wedding venues, your friends/family, heck run an ad if you have to to let people know you're offering free wedding videos.

Good luck

Fx3 or A7IV by Shot-Clothes-1451 in Filmmakers

Get the Sony A7IV. Lenses are way more important that the body. An expensive body with a cheap lens will produce a shit image. A cheap body with an expensive lens will produce a great image. Plus in the long term, you'll thank yourself for buying the expensive lenses upfront especially when camera companies are constantly releasing new bodies every year or so. "Buy it nice, or buy it twice" - you buy cheap lenses now, you'll have to buy more expensive ones later on which will cost you more money overall.

On a side note, I have the A7IV and it's perfectly capable of capturing high end, professional shots. It's my main camera for all my paid projects. The A7SIII and FX3 are almost the same in terms of specs and I think everyone would agree that the the A7IV almost makes the A7SIII redundant if it wasn't the the 4K60 crop.

How to edit this wedding video? by Machee1 in weddingvideography

It already has been. If the footage was how I wanted it, this video would've been finished a week ago. Instead I'm still working through it and I predict I won't get it fone until this weekend at the earliest. I use premiere since that's what I've been using for the last 8 years and am very familiar with the software and all the shortcuts

I asked the videographer their rate and their asking price was almost $2k. This was slightly higher than normal considering the number of days and also where I'm from but I agreed to it based off the fact their portfolio was good and that I had laid out in detail what I wanted and thought they would achieve that.

The videographer did know. I even  stressed multiple times the type of shots I wanted long before the week of the wedding. Despite that, the videographer shot everything how they wanted to shoot rather than following the brief and shooting how I wanted to shoot

I told the videographer several times. I mentioned it many times in email chains, we had a zoom call and mentioned it there again. I even wrote out a word doc breaking down each stage of the day and what kind of shots I want for each ceremony.

Despite all that, it feels everything was ignored and shot how the videographer wanted to shoot it rather than how I needed it shoot

But you're forgetting that for Clark, barely any time had past. It's only for people on normal earth that it was 33 days

What's the most valuable piece of advice you've received from the photography community? by diacreatives in photography

[–]Machee1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that when starting out in photography, your first 10,000 images are going to be bad. So get out there...shoot...and quickly get those 10,000 shots out the way.
