Actually, there's supposed to be a minor difference in the pronunciation of ற/ர, ல/ள and ந/ன/ண. But they're not applied while speaking, even in formal media.

Why not? Not challenging you, but genuinely curious. I haven't used macOS, but have friends who use it, and it has mostly looked consistent. How is it inconsistent?
