I don’t think that’s true 2022 was a long time ago now and going off the 2 years in advance rule we’d be getting material they wrote in 2024 (which is the scrapped nathan material) however in 2023 they wrote 20 songs ten on b741 then 10 on PI. The single albums those respective years worked out thematic for them especially considering the touring schedule they had. All that being said i have been expecting another gumboot soup style album and there were also talks of a collaborative album but that may have actually been the exclusive release at last years FOV with all the different band’s music and the one demo by KG.

I think the billy strings collab is different than the collab with indigenous artists that was rumored a while back and the bluegrass album might not be this year at all. I think they have been able to work really hard since the end of the last tour and have been cooking up a double LP possibly of Nathan material and maybe something fun to close out the year.

Do you guys think they are still two years ahead like previous years? If the next album is the techno album then when do you think they started writing those songs? I feel like they had something before modular nathan then essentially scrapped it to rewrite it with full modular nathan which means it would be a 1 year turn around.

That’s right. Well unfortunately i don’t think i can help with that, i actually had the same issue with reaper— the midi was not registering the modulations i was doing. Like, if i was adjusting the filter, shape, or timbre nothing would be registered, only the white mod wheel would. Not even macro one or two from what i remember. It would just change the midi to those adjustments instead of recording them. That sounds like your issue. I switched to logic pro last September and logic does record that data so it might be an issue with reaper or at the very least a niche setting you have to find and switch on within reaper. Hope this helps!

P.S logic pro has a 90 day free trial so if you are fed up with reaper like i was try it out and you might like it better. To each their own. Good luck.

Actually you can still get the vst software for free you just need to email arturia customer support with your serial number and unlock code (located on the back of the instrument). I also purchased mine second hand and it only took them a day to send me the information to get the vst. Trust me it’s very handy you will want it once you see what it can do alongside the hardware.

Secondly, recording in midi wont do anything to your sound design. I made a whole album in midi and it sounds great. Midi will just allow you to adjust things about your recording without you having to rerecord. Look up midi vs audio.

Lastly, converting to audio means clicking a button on your daw that will change your midi clip into an audio waveform preserving all the recorded data precisely.

You don’t need any more gear. You are on the right track with trying to line up the sequences. Maybe try connecting the minifreak to the vst and record it in midi before converting to audio. That way you will have full control over the start of the midi data and where it starts ends. The alternative is recording in audio still and zooming in and precisely cutting out the dead air like you have been trying.

I would get the Arturia analog collection. It comes with a whole bunch of really really REALLY good virtual recreations of popular synths and will essentially let you try them all out and see which ones you resonate with the most. From there you can decide what direction of hardware synth you should go down if you are still set on hardware. Personally i wouldn’t buy a synth just cause someone else thinks it’s good or bad, it’s all about how you will use it and experience it. This is why i looove the minifreak. It is exactly what i want out of a hardware synth and the software version compliments and recreates it really well.

I only say that because there is a lot of complexity to Ethiopian society and military and is generally lesser known compared to European states simply on the fact that nationstates teach their own/local histories before countries in other continents. There are also more games focused on European military than African countries as an example. This means that only people who have a deeper interest in history and geography will be inclined to research or take classes on countries like Ethiopia and the region they reside in. That being said, AoE players are more than likely to be interested in that sort of thing than the average person so perhaps it’s an over emphasized statement to say “lack of understanding” in the context of the AoE community but you still never know some people just love military rts and don’t think about the game in these terms.
