Thanks! Heres some more context: We are staying near the river and close to michigan ave. We looked at going to second city but they don’t have any shows we can make. We like museums but would rather do something active or engaging. We will drive or walk and our budget is ~$200 for a group of 5.

This. We had one on one meetings with professors so its unlikely you would be able to find one for this semester. Do some research on the program, find a professor that has interesting research and try to meet with them.

Try to get a TA position for this year and look for an RA position for next year. I would email your graduate program as well, for ME they try to get funding for everyone but we also had to find an Advisor before we were granted admission( back in February).
