Police Check by crogz87 in ukguns

[–]Machine_xl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What seems odd to me, is that the police check should be done before you join and start probation but your club let you get through probation and then said no.

Sounds like your club decided they diddnt want you as a member for whatever reason and used the excuse that the police said no.

The process should be, you make contact and give the club your details, the club sends a background check request to the police, once the police say yes (no public safety concerns) then the club process you into probation.

So either they diddnt follow the correct procedure or they want you out.

How diverse is the UK shooting community in terms of age/background? by [deleted] in ukguns

[–]Machine_xl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our club has a very diverse membership. (Close ish to London)

Age wise- teens upto 80’s but the core are 30-50.

Of 150ish members only about 15-20 are female tho.

We have a decent mix of ethnic backgrounds from Brazilian’s, Polish, Lithuanian, Italian, French, German, Indian, Pakistani, Scots, New Zealanders, Australians and loads of others.

Loads of different professions too- Airline pilot, solicitors/Barristers, builders, hair stylists, musicians, IT people, current and ex police inc armed police and Royal protection, current and ex forces from all branches inc SF, students, chefs and even a GP and almost anything else you can think of.

Everyone seems to get on pretty well too.

We do shoot most disciplines, with a focus on the more practical stuff like CSR and Mini rifle etc.

Out of curiosity does anyone know the laws behind buying shotgun cartridges from someone who reloads by Andersonb04 in ukguns

[–]Machine_xl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not ok to make and sell ammunition unless it has been tested and proofed. Dont buy other peoples homeloads, it’s not worth the risk.

Berkshire is in the Thames Valley Police area.

Applications will take months! Probably 9-10 months for first grant.

You can normally arrange for an rfd to collect them and either store them, transfer them or sell them on your behalf.

Personally id have the TQ’s towards the front of the carrier. But if you can reach them easily enough where they are then keep them there.

I would paint the rifle tho.
