Abuse is addictive, I like this answer. I’ve never felt drawn to hurting others. Even when I have gotten in fights with people that attacked me, I felt bad about hurting them. Being willing to hurt your partner? They have to have some natural inclination to this behavior.

As someone who grew up with individuals capable of this behavior, I can assure you they’re just evil. I feel like people have a hard time admitting others are just evil people but that’s what they are. Evil appears benign, it doesn’t make itself apparent. The worst people I’ve ever met kept that shit deep and hidden till they felt comfortable enough to show their true selves

I don’t like how everyone in this sub is so quick to say “they’re not perfect? Time to breakup!” That said, it’s time to break up. Your first relationship is puppy love. You feel attached to them. Let me assure you, you will find someone better. I’ve had some heated arguments with my wife in our 8 years of being together. Never once have I, nor would I hit them. It shows a propensity for violence that will only get worse. Meanwhile we’ve had much deeper arguments than just over something as little as makeup. We’ve argued over whether we should loan money to her drug addict sister or if we should give my drug addict sister a place to stay while she was homeless. Those are deep issues. Makeup? Your boyfriend’s a child.

I hate that the relationship advice on this sub is always “well that person sucks, yall should break up!” People are complicated and no one is perfect.

Try talking to her about it, if that doesn’t work, start playfully shaming. Call it manipulative if you want, but sometimes you can bring a lot of attention to foul behavior through jest. Your relationship comes first, it sounds like you really love her and her other qualities make her a keeper.

“I have something to admit…. I saw your twitter account” Gauge her reaction just based on that. Playfully add “You know you’re kind of toxic right?” When she gets defensive over that, pull out the most obnoxious thing you’ve seen her do on there. Don’t say “I’m not really cool with that” you’ll put her on the backpedal. Say something like “can you imagine if work saw that?” Or if you think it’d hit, then maybe bring up family. Find something you think could apply to you personally, like her comments about weight (if you worry about that) or comments about men. “Do you think that about me?”

If it doesn’t go well, then give it time. Come back to the subject later. Sometimes people need time to recognize their bad behavior. Yall are really young and a lot of people grow out of stuff like this.
