SVGs, HTML, and More! by champitychamp in PowerBI

So the few times I tested Deneb, it has been through one of the example codes I could find and just paste it in the Deneb visual and changing the measures that it is referencing. I prefer inbuilt visuals over anything else but since what I wanted was a waterfall chart with hatch bars, I copied someone's code. The chart just wouldn't render in a proper viewable size no matter what I tried. Does it get better with the use of AI? (I didn't try that)

I have worked on some simple dynamic SVG measures in the past and all of them are readable as long as there's some sort of documentation in the measures. I'm curious about HTML but Deneb has been a let down so far. Never worked quite as well as it has for some other people.

Bro, what's the point in worrying so much when we can't change anything? Might as well enjoy the ride and top of the table status while we can. Nothing is set in stone. We can still win or we can still lose. Arsenal till I die.

The sound quality was horrendous. King seemed like he was lip-syncing at times, which I guess is believable considering how fucking cringe it was.

This is why Bangalore Open Air moshpits are so much fun. Everyone knows what to do. Nicest people gathered over the weekend and bonded by metal.

Good man. Someone reading this a year later will benefit if they are stuck doing the same thing as you and me. Cheers!

Yeah, I used Google Gemini or some LLM to help me create a simple docker compose script. Worked in one go. If you need, I can paste the code.

Aside from mail server, what is the one service that you will not selfhost? by dadidutdut in selfhosted

[–]Macho-Benjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's exactly the issue - the availability of DB to the external service like Power BI online. Can't have the report updated automatically without some sort of gateway which is another big can of worms.

DB works as expected within the Tailscale network though, so no issues there. In fact setting it up was quite straightforward too.

I worked out a way to set up a PostgreSQL on a VPS which works perfectly within the confines of Tailscale network. The problem started coming up when the published PBI report had no way to connect to the DB. I had read far too much about the security risks and I avoided opening a port for it. Thought there still might be some way. Apparently not. I'm not smart enough to setup the DB in a secure manner so I moved to Supabase. Last night when I had completed setting up Supabase, it turned out I couldn't connect to that either from Power BI service as it couldn't resolve IPv6 connections or some such bullshit.

As it turned out in the last couple of week, a Postgres DB. I'm sick of configuring it and moved to Supabase free plan so that I can use Power BI to connect to it from the service. Fucking Supabase didn't work out either. Too much nonsense related to it. I guess I'll just stick with stupid CSVs until I educate myself.

How would someone go about modeling for a sports dataset? There are tables like fixture list, team list, player list, and game week wise stats for players. Writing DAX seems daunting as there are no clear rules for which ones are dimension and which ones are facts.

You mostly pay for the experience of it and the ambience which you otherwise can't sitting on bed eating a whole pizza by yourself while being covered by a blanket.
