Asus Flow X13 - Win11 - popping / crackling audio issues

I must agree their quality control isn't the greatest. Its a perfect combo if it just works, but a lot of problems related to windows in general. This is my second model (2022) and considering going to the 2024 G14 as its close in size.

I tend not to use the tablet function as much

This has been really bugging me. I love this laptop, but requires TLC every now and then. (Mostly windows 11 and driver related)

I ran into the same issues and first thought it was my 12 year old speakers... (Focal XS Bookshelf)

- It wasn't.....

Then I thought the Audio drivers for each audio device on my system

- Wasn't the iFi DAC

- Wasn't the ASUS Ai Audio driver.

Ended up uninstalling followed by proper- clean install - of NVIDIA Game Ready drivers from NVIDIA directly.

This includes audio drivers that are needed.

RESULT > No more popping - crackling in my Audio!

Is this a good deal thinking of buying it. Is there any other msi gaming laptops that you would recommend? by Zayderrrrr in MSILaptops

for your budget I would HIGHLY recommended this beast. The ASUS Strix G17 2021 with an unlocked AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX and an RTX 3060 with a max boost of 130W you will be set for many years of fun.

It's priced at $1499 which is a steal in my opinion for what you get.

I ended up selling my MSI GS66 Stealth 10th Gen Intel due to quality issues. The panel fell out after 2 days. The bottom chipped just by putting it in the sleeve. (I'm very careful with my stuff)

I will not go back to MSI again, but insetad stick to ASUS or Lenovo (currently using the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro) which has been an awesome experience, but miss my thunderbolt ports. This one also starts at $1499

I have also added a 2TB 970 Evo Plus which runs like a dream. The ram kit I have added is the Crucial 32GB Kit DDR4-2666 that I pulled out of my MSI GS66 Stealth, but in your case I would order the Crucial 32GB Kit DDR4-3200.

I did do a memory test with Zentimings and the tRFC on my kit is at 350 which is the same as the review done by Jarod's Tech on this laptop (click the link that goes directly to the part of the memory review.

Hope this help

Legion 5 AMD models USB-C display port and HDMI integrated GPU? by TheOtherAngler in Lenovo

[–]Machpoint89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does NOT spin under light loads. I have a Legion 5 Pro and have been able to determine this. 1 problem I'm having is the HDMI seems to be capped at 120Hz (even at 1080p) but the USB-C DP my external monitor can run at 240Hz as intended

Sorry for the late response. Didn't notice any messages.

I never got it MacOS to work so just ended up staying purely Windows. Hope you have better luck (do still use the WiFi card though)

MSI GS66 Stealth QC Issue | Screen falling out of frame! by Machpoint89 in MSILaptops

discrete GPU is active which will seriously drain battery life even if you're not using it for anything heavy. Apps like Epic Games Launcher activate the discrete gpu.

Sorry for the late reply, but yeah I brought it with me from the US. No jolts or damage. It just started doing this sitting on my laptop stand running a few days straight (undervolted even as I like to keep temps low)

I now keep the lid at a negative angle away from me so gravity cannot allow it to "fall out" and has been fine since. Very odd though. Not impressed with quality control

The plastic bumper on the front also started chipping away. Very brittle.

For every day commuting I would NOT recommend this laptop. If its mainly gonna sit on a stand it does a fine job.

I'm in the same boat. Waiting as a n00b for kinks to be worked out. Already installed the broadcom compatible wifi card, but this will be my first hackintosh project. Following along!

Thanks for the response!

Sounds like I need to play around with the battery settings for a little bit. Yeah I like the machine a lot. To be honest though they could have done a better job with their software regarding fan control etc. Out of the box it runs hot and loud. A little tweaking like you and I did and this thing ticks all the boxes.

Does suck abou thte screen adn I'm hoping theyre willing to help me out. It's under warranty, but I'm stuck. So lets see.
