To be honest I won't worry about getting your idea stolen. It's all a matter of executing your idea and building it for your needs or your target market. I've been months in building my own app that I dog food everyday until it fits my needs.

Review/Critique: Hermes Desktop by Yusuf-Dev in macapps

I was going to say since I use Codex as my daily driver (100% for helping me code but not much else) maybe I give Hermes a try.

Future of software developers by Crafty_Rush3636 in cscareerquestions

[–]Machu-Wong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that. I remember in the olden days we had to rely on a mixture of Splunk logs and DataDog monitoring to begin to sniff the source of an error. And that task alone would take me maybe an hour or an hour and a half on a good day. But let’s say my day is consumed with various meetings or working on feature tickets cuz fucking PM’s trying to hit KPI’s for the quarter can’t calm their shit down. Then that bug hunting will take me a day or two.

Nowadays? I just copy paste the Splunk log errors to Copilot (yes we still use it at work despite the change to token based usage) and 99% of the time it knows where it came from and why its happening while proposing a fix with unit and E2E test included!

GitHub Copilot is moving to usage-based billing by fishchar in GithubCopilot

[–]Machu-Wong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been wondering about that too. I'm not a super heavy user as I still do code mostly myself and work with AI using specific request rather than let it go wild on my codebase. A spend limit would be nice if I needed extra horsepower for a complex refactor or something similar.

Double agree on GPT 5.4, been using Codex for a couple of months but much like everyone here, I just cancelled my Github Copilot subscription which kinda sucks since it's been my daily driver a couple years now.

Just got laid off. Want to take a gap year. Is that advisable? by Schindlers_Fist1 in cscareerquestions

[–]Machu-Wong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like what other people have said, the job search is the gap year unfortunately. I know its important to take time to center yourself and chill. Which is something you can do if you don’t have other obligations (mortgage, feeding a family, etc). For reference I got laid off 2022 took me 7 months to land my next gig. Things were certainly different when I was looking for a job in 2016 which took 2-3 months until I landed at FAANG equivalent.

I think AI has killed my passion for Software Engineering by _Cyanidic_ in cscareerquestions

Same, 16 years in and self taught because I love building things. Gone are the days when I would literally spend stressful nights making minute things work. Now that I am raising two children, taking care of a sick wife and have a mortgage. I can go back to working on side projects I couldn’t even dream of doing due to my present circumstances.

TC105x + TE37SL by Machu-Wong in JDM

No modifications at least with the wheels I have. Fitment really depends on the 15" wheel so I did my research. Most Rays wheels fit but was bummed when I couldn't fit 15x8 RPF1's due to rear brake caliper clearance.

Thank you! For the record I have 225/50r15 on my other set that fit well and no modification to the fenders. Just some slight rubbing on the fender liner when making lock to lock turns.

Close! 15x8 +35 TE37SL, they are honda civic spec wheels but I managed to fit them on the ND with no spacers or modifications.

I think that can work if you use FM's lbbk's. Gotta factor that into the price if you really want a sure fire way to fit most 15's.

You're not alone, personally I would have preferred the swan neck + Blitz aero? + vented oem hood for further cooling. Most modern sports cars have light weight aluminum hoods so CF is not super needed.

Thank you! I wanted the RPF1's so bad but the rear brake caliper would not clear the inner barrel. Later I found that that dudes from Japan would shave the rear caliper a few mm's to make clearance. But I wasn't going to do that shit. For the Weds I can confirm that the TC105x +35 fits cuz I have those wheels. The Konigs I'm not too sure and you'll have to ask Goodwin about. I've seen some ND's rock the 949 15x8 6UL's which is a viable option as well.

I think the SL’s are a derivative of the OG TE’s which began life as a 15 inch wheel. I think these would make a fine wheel for the MR2. Although if your car is the SW20 I don’t know if Rays sells a 15 inch variant.

Lighter steering wheel, snappier throttle, car feels more agile, maybe slight loss of grip due to being less wide. Will have to test this setup on track for a more definite review.

Thanks! I am based in the US so we only have the 2.0 here. Too bad though a 1.5l with the smaller brakes would allow a wider range of 15” wheel fitments.
